[Ron] Paul To Surprise Again? (Fundraising)
RealClearPolitics ^ | September 30, 2007 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 09/30/2007 3:16:26 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

As the fundraising quarter draws to a close at midnight tonight, candidates are scrambling to boost their numbers by any means necessary (we've received two fundraising pitches signed by candidates with the subject line "Hey," and one from a spouse headed "Re: Hey"). And while he's gotten little attention outside his fervent and fanatic fan base, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who finished the second quarter with more cash on hand than Sen. John McCain, could have another surprise in store for the media establishment his supporters so often malign.

In the run-up to the filing deadline, Paul's supporters were asked to help the candidate raise $500,000 in just a few days. That's more than former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee raised in the entire first quarter, by the way. Yesterday, the Paul campaign revised its goal -- supporters had raised $850,000 already, and the campaign was shooting for $1 million by midnight tonight.

The campaign reached the $1 million mark last night, a full day ahead of schedule.

Paul won't outraise any of the front-runners, but the frugality with which he is running the campaign, as well as the fervency of his supporters and his presence in Iowa and New Hampshire, mean that he will be one second-tier candidate unwilling to drop out before the nominating process takes its course. Paul could cause some serious problems for the front-runners, and it looks increasingly like he will have the money to compete in at least a few early states.

Actually, among the small group of people interested in the presidential race at this early stage, Paul is winning Texas. Talk to folks who live there. He was third in the straw poll because only party insiders, bushies, were allowed to vote.

Ron Paul is not the enemy.

But he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Calm down, honey. This is history, not a recent event. Anti-semites love to use this single event to try and white-wash their hatred.

Those who will not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Here's a point to ponder....WHY didn't we retaliate against Israel for a blantant attack on one of our ships in International Waters? Nothing to do with race or religion here...when another country's war apparatus attacks one of our vessels, doesn't that constitute an act of war? Here's where I'm going with this.....if we're going to 'defend' our nation and her citizens, why do we pick and choose which onese we're going to defend against? Could it be that we have people calling the shots other than simply our elected officials? Things to make you go hmmmm.....

I see, it makes complete sense now. Paul would be winning everywhere if it wasn’t for the evil neo-con conspiracy. Hell, he is even in the lead for the Nobel Peace Prize and he actually won the Cola Wars- but the neo-Con bushies are keeping it a secret. I also heard that he finished a Rubik's cube once too.

We didn’t retaliate because it was friendly fire. Certainly we will not retaliate 40 years later.
Bigots will never let this go, because they can justify irrational hatred with a single incident. As to your last statement, all I can say is it is a$$inine.
THERE IS NO EVIL JEWISH CONSPIRACY.

Now you can go back to the Klan and get your next talking point.

Show me where I suggested that we do something about now! Sheesh!! You're entirely dodging the point and keep insisting (against ALL logic) that the incident was 'friendly fire'.....friendly fire is ACCIDENTAL. The attack on the Liberty was not accidental. Answer the question....WHY didn't we (past tense here) retaliate when this attack happened and why did Johnson order our commanders to stand down when they and are pilots wanted to defend the men on the Liberty?..........I'm waiting.....

Because it was FRIENDLY FIRE!

The Israeli and American governments conducted multiple inquiries into the incident, and issued reports concluding that the attack was the result of a mistake, caused by confusion among the Israeli attackers about the precise identity of the USS Liberty.

****I think you are forgetting that an election is not a push poll where you can vote 50 times.*****

Correct, but I have a retail business and I talk to many people every day. Right now, my focus is to get people to know who Ron Paul is and to look him up on the Internet.

What about turn the other cheek, what about forgiveness?
What about getting a life?

Israel is a true friend, and no other such incident has ever happened.
Kentucky baby, hatred is a path to the dark side.

Love your tagline...to bad it doens’t tell the whole story:

Once again, let’s explain it to all the kindergarteners out there? He takes requests from constituents and turns them into earmarks. Then he votes against the final bill which the earmarks are included. He’s stated time and time again that he doesn’t like this system but, being a duly elected member of Congress, he must follow the rules set forth therefore.

There, real simple isn’t? His constituent service is what keeps him getting re- elected.

From the link posted above.
“The Israeli attack on the USS Liberty was a grievous error, largely attributable to the fact that it occurred in the midst of the confusion of a full-scale war in 1967. Ten official United States investigations and three official Israeli inquiries have all conclusively established the attack was a tragic mistake.”
Take that back to Stormfront.

The liberal blogger Lane Hudson turned in Senator Fred Thompson to the FEC for supposedly not dotting every "i" and crossing every "t"

Because Fred poses a threat to liberals.

no one seems to care that Paul's campaign is flagrantly violating the rules of the game.

Because they know he doesn't stand a chance, so he's not a threat.

Absolutely. One in a high-tech IT job, one about to begin Veterinary school and a 2nd grader who reads at the 5th grade level and does 6th grade math.....All three are good at history and probably know the U.S. Constitution better than most folks (taught them from the Institute on the Constitution program). What's your point (or were you simply trying to be disparaging)?

but Ron Paul is ‘the enemy’ even though he’s strong on all of these conservative stances because he advocates cutting and running, showing the radical Muzzies that American is full of cowards, thereby opening us up for even more attempts at control from the Islamicists.

There. . .fixed it.
