HEMPSTEAD,NY--A disbarred lawyer convicted of aiding terrorists will be teaching at an upcoming law school ethics conference.
Lynne Stewart, who was found guilty of conspiring with terrorist Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, will be speaking October 16 at Hofstra Law Schools Legal Ethics: Lawyering on the Edge, in Hempstead, New York.
The speaking engagement comes only a year after Stewart was sentenced to twenty-eight months in prison on charges of conspiracy and providing material support to terrorists.
Prosecutors alleged that Stewart had passed on messages to Abdel Rahmans radical Muslim followers, authorizing a resumption of terrorist operations against the Egyptian government.
As a result of the convictions, Stewart was automatically disbarred from practicing law.
Her client, Abdel Rahman, was convicted in 1996 of plots to bomb landmarks around New York City.
Stewart will be speaking at Hofstra Law Schools 2007 Legal Ethics Conference, Lawyering at the Edge: Unpopular Clients, Difficult Cases, Zealous Advocates. The conference is scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2007 in the Sidney R. Siben and Walter Siben Moot Courtroom (room 308) of Hofstra Law School.
According to the Universitys website, the conference will feature dynamic speakers who will weigh in on controversial issues such as prosecutorial abuse, the challenges of representing prisoners at Guantanamo, and attacks on lawyers who represent unpopular clients and causes.
I got to Hofstra law!!!!! I gotta organize a protest!!!!
Sorry about that triple post freepers. Computer is messed up.
Impeach the judge who freed her under false pretenses.
Ooops, I forgot. In today's world, this class and this law school would be on the cutting edge of preparation for a successful legal career.
Good luck, but be careful — just remember that there are plenty of leftists in academia who will want to try to ruin your life if you do stick your neck out over this. Long ago I had a couple of HAHvard academics threaten to “destroy” me and “wreck” my career over less..... fortunately I was through with academic crap at that point and laughed in their faces, but I learned the lesson that supposed liberal, tolerant academics can quickly turn extremely vicious when they feel crossed or thwarted in any way.
I was wondering about that myself.
I imagine she must be free pending appeal, although the judge must have had the option of jailing her pending the appeal, and should have done so..... this is a frickin’ TRAITOR we are talking about here, a hardcore far leftist who aided and abetted terrorist enemies of our country. Execution would be too good for her.
There should be treason proceedings, then, if she’s well enough to teach someplace. This woman is actively working for the enemy.
Wow, She must be a REAL rebel. I’m sure the Libs who hired her are sipping a glass of chablis to celebrate their own enormous courage in selecting someone so deliciously dangerous.
But “Lawyering on the Edge”?
What a piece of total Lib filth.

And Rosie O'Donnell will be teaching "How to Attract a Man."
No, really, Brother Wolfe is right. You have here a woman who got disbarred because she was an accessory to terrorism teaching legal ethics. You can’t MAKE UP satire crazier than that.
Sentenced to a pathetic 28 months for aiding terrorist. The penalty should have been the death penalty.
What in the world are these colleges and universities thinking? Former disgraced Governor of New Jersey, Jim McGreevey is teaching “ethics” at Kean University in NJ.
