Tonight at Daily Kos, the new mainstream voice of the Democratic Party, they’ve found a new angle from which to attack General Petraeus: Hey, MoveOn! Petraeus Wore Fraud Medal At Testimony.
Examining General Petraeus’s medals, his official bios and then comparing three reports of events on 3/30/2003 in Najaf, Iraq - two by prize-winning embedded journalists and one understood to be by Army personnel (which document this diarist will produce to a responsible party at any time) - this diarist cannot conclude other than that General David Petraeus wore a medal for combat valor in his testimony before Congress that was a sham, propaganda and a dishonor to his troops and nation.
I will be extremely surprised if there is anything to these charges, but it’s not my area of expertise, so LGF military lizards—please weigh in.

The Kos Kid is claiming you have to be under direct fire. I doubt this is correct if you are in a combat zone.
From the Army's web site:
a. The Bronze Star Medal is awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity in or with the military of the United States after 6 December 1941, distinguished himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight, while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.
b. Awards may be made for acts of heroism, performed under circumstances described above, which are of lesser degree than required for the award of the Silver Star.
Engaged in action does not seem to require being under fire. It could be firing on an enemy. Or in the case of a division commander, leading a division who was firing on the enemy.

I’ll bet it would be informative to read the citation for that Bronze Star medal. I believe it would tell a tale of intrepidity under fire.
John F’in Kerry was so dumb he wore a Combat “V” with his Silver Star, which I believe he got for shooting a guy in the back.
Actually, there are more than a few “ring knockers” with prior service.
These freaks just keep shooting themselves in the arse, don’t they? Sadly for them, there’s no medal for that, and there isn’t a one of them who would have the least clue of the meaning of any military medal, let alone those of a 4 star general.

You really think Boorda did it. The fact that his 45 wasn’t used always aroused my suspicion. They were strange times.
