She played Bernice Clifton on Designing Women too.

LOL she was the best Gladys Kravitz. I never cared for Gladys #2.
Mrs. Tate looks like The Joker.
As far as I'm concerned... THE ONLY. She was wigged-out 24/7!
“Bewitched” actress ALICE GHOSTLEY dead at 81....
RIP ~ Esmerelda ...you were a real nice lady!!!!
I’ll always remember her as Francis Muldoon’s (Fred Gwynne) love interest, Miss Bonita Calsheim on “Car 54”.
RIP funny lady.
Oh, that’s creepy. I just watched an episode of “What’s Happening !!” early this morning that featured Miss Ghostley. Very talented and funny lady. May she rest in peace.
loved her in Designing Women... she was a hoot!
That’s the one I was wondering about. A character fulfilled by some I know. LOL
Oh, my goodness, it does !
I'd forgotten that one, where Mama is accused of stealing her ring.
She also played Murray the Cop's wife in a memorable "Odd Couple" episode.
She was in "Grease" as well.
“Alice Ghostley played Esmerelda on Bewitched. I used to think of Alice as the female Paul Lynde, which is sort of true. Reading recently, Paul apparently scammed (in a friendly way) Alice’s mannerisms and made them his own. Charles Nelson Reilly also admits that he scammed Paul, who scammed Alice. Fascinating, and if you take a step back, makes complete sense.
I took Alice and her sister on a tour of Hollywood when I was still running the Grave Line Tour. The tour included Elizabeth Montgomery’s house, Agnes Moorehead’s (I asked Alice if Agnes was indeed a lesbian, she responded with a, “you know, I heard that too!” We also passed the former location of Paul’s house, which is directly across from Marilyn and Joe’s honeymoon home. With a smile, Alice recalled the wonderful parties that Paul used to throw. When departing the tour, Alice left me with this note.”
I believe the only surviving adult cast member is Bernard Fox, who played “Dr. Bombay.” Kasey Rogers, who played Louise Tate, passed away about a year ago.
Elizabeth Montgomery passed away from cancer back in 1995.
Paul Lynde was also a fruity one. But at least he had a sense of humor about it. A reporter once went to his home to interview him. There was a sort of effeminate young man there with Lynde. During the interview, the reporter asked Lynde why he’d never married. Lynde replied (in that sarcastic tone he was famous for) “Are you blind?”
Yup, that's the one. I noticed, sadly, that over half of WH!!'s cast has passed on. Mama (Mabel King), Daddy (Thalmus Rasulala), Rerun (Fred Berry) and Shirley Hemphill.
