60 Minutes Greenspan Interview Trashes Republican Presidents; Clinton was the Smartest -

Posted on 09/16/2007 6:05:31 PM PDT by WyCoKsRepublican

60 Minutes aired an interview with former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan this evening. He inferred Nixon was vulgar and profane, Ford was a nice guy, Reagan wasn't that bright and was just an opportunist intested in his public image, and naturally Bill Clinton was the smartest of all that he'd served under. He went on to say how bright Hillary was and that Bush lied to him about the truth of our prosperity. Now folks, I'm considering the source and I knew where this propaganda piece was heading, but it was pathetic. Barf-a-rama.

IMHO Greenspan was a decent Fed Chairman, but I don't have to cede to him my voting decisions, national security, etc. Thanks for the opinions Alan but I have a few of my own.

I also suspect taht 60 minutes edited him to put an edge on his remarks. Maybe he didn't think Reagan was bright, but I hope that doesn't equal wishing Jimmy Carter remained president, as opposed to Reagan.

The economy was in such full disaster mode under Carter that disfavoring Reagan and his subsequent results would border on madness.

Snakes and rats and weasles are smart and bright, too.

Did he use the words ‘integrity’, or ‘honesty’?

at the age of 81 he needs to move to the country and enjoy the view for what ever time he has left on this good earth..the aging process is showing its self in GREENSPAN.

Bush inherited an on-going recession when he took office in 2001. Then the attacks of 9/11 made everything worse. Bush cut taxes and the economy recovered then grew.

Greenspan has been talking recession since he retired. If he is a Republican he is from the Chuck Hagel school.

I think that Greenspan bided his time, and his real intent, now revealed, is to put socialist Hillary into the White House.

I read Reagan’s diaries. Looked like a pretty bright, savvy man to me.

Yes he was. His enemies (and some of his friends) underestimated him while he was alive; apparently, they still do.

It has been said that Ronald Reagan was a success at everything he tried. Not many people can make the same claim.

If he had married a conservative woman, his views would be different. I don’t know what Andrea Mitchell used to be, but she is one of the leftier talking heads—and she’s supposed to be a news person.

It was obvious as he was talking about Clinton that Clinton had done his usual sociopath charm offensive on Greenspan, and Greenspan lapped it up.

What did Greenspan say about Carter?

bill sobbed about his infidelities and women tv viewers ate it up!

Remember the probably staged lamp that almost fell on Hill. She was saved by Bill. He whole hour was a disgusting display of bias by the MSM. I am waiting for the first time that Sixty Minutes gives an entire hour to the writer of a conservative book. waiting...waiting...

Carter? I was just thinking that unless I missed it in the interview, I can’t recall him commenting on the brillant man from Plains, GA. Double digit inflation, 13% + mortgage rates and gas lines.........hummmmmmmmm. Interesting he didn’t mention that.

I read the WSJ piece about Greenspan’s book. He basically criticizes the Republican Congress for spending like drunken sailors, and Bush for not following his advice of vetoing some of his pork-laden bills. He’s a libertarian who was disappointed in the Republicans.

Guess what, I agree with him 100%. And Bill Clinton’s economic legacy will be positive since his wife’s horrible socialized medicine plan failed.

Just because some of us like Bush on certain things, such as the tax cut and the great judges he nominated, doesn’t mean that he was good domesticly. His “compassionate conservative” saying should have been a warning...

Agree.
Very sad that Bush couldn’t sign a veto. I hope he didn’t think of signing a veto as as being mean, but who knows?
