Publishers Weekly reviewed the book. The pubs closing line was, "READERS WHO MAKE IT THROUGH THE BOOK will feel like they ought to do a bit more to save the world." I looked at the book and it is like a bad college text. It's brutal.

Please try to support two books topping the Times' list now, Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy and Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell.

Clinton has the huge advantage of being on Oprah since Oprah won't even have Dungy on as a guest. Dungy's book is very good. If anyone can circulate it on the blogs and message boards, and even get Smiley's quote to Rush, maybe Rush can push the Dungy and Luttrell books.

Oh, Clinton’s book is also helped by the fact that Dungy’s sales at Christian bookstores don’t even count toward the NY Time’s list. It made it to No. 1 without counting one sale at a Christian store.

"Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World......."

The only people "giving" anything in Bubba's life are the interns, one chubby one in particular.

I hope this book addresses bubba’s sexual predator brethren. They, like Clinton, should be making further contributions to his library in Little Crock.

Cornel West is not a "Harvard intellectual." Anyone who reads any of the drivel he writes (or occasionally "raps") will see in an instant that this man is not an "intellectual." He is a black "academic" who has been promoted way beyond his Peter Principle level of incompetence.

Oh, and I think the "reporter" is way behind the times. West now infests the Princeton faculty, because Harvard "dissed" him by asking him to do some actual scholarship. I've done more scholarship in my spare time in the last decade than West did as a full-time "University Scholar" at Harvard. Lord knows what he's doing at Princeton, other than pretending to be a real professor.

I suggest the Clintons collaborate with the IRS and their CPAs and publish their tax returns for say, the last 25 years, so we can all see how generous they’ve been.

Even including the dirty socks to Goodwill.

I guess I am getting very old, I remember when Knopf was a very credible publisher. I’ll bet Rachael Ray has not read very many books that did not have recipes in them, it takes so much time and energy being perky, and it takes it toll as Katie Couric can attest.

"...Harvard intellectual Cornel West."

Cornel West an "intellectual"???
Talk about lowering standards, this is laughable!

West is a barely rational poseur who can hardly write a decipherable sentence...

After that, I passed on the remainder of the article....NO credibility.

re: “Bleeding Heart Cheapskates”

Yes, I can remember years in a row when the Gores and the Clintons were known to give nothing or nearly nothing to charity, despite enjoying annual incomes far above national norms (and of course in the case of Al Gore there was some inherited wealth and Occidental Petroleum stock). The last thing anyone need is to be lectured by these sanctimonious frauds.

I don’t know how you can say that Oprah WON’T have Tony Dungy on her show. He is just the kind of guest she loves to have - those that have triumphed over adversity. It may be that he is too busy this time of year to even go on the show if he were asked. Week one of the 2007 NFL season starts this Thursday and the Colts are playing in that very first game.

The political Right is more compassionate than the Left (contrary to politically correct thought).

“Who Really Cares” by Arthur C Brooks examines America’s charity divide - who gives, who does not and why it matters.

The Left is good at giving other people’s money - not their own. Giving includes both money and volunteering.

If you want to see a “liberal’s” head explode,

remind them that their support of socialism (ie, charity at the expense of OTHERS),

in NO WAY satisfies their personal, individual requirement to care for the poor and needy.
