“Do not post to me”

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this.

1. It's impossible for us to enforce.
2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.
3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.
4. Thick skin helps.
5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply.

Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps.

Final note: Trolls, troublemakers, disruptors, forum pests, malcontents, RINOs, liberals, stalkers, et al, would continue posting to (harassing) someone after being asked to stop. Conservative FReepers would not.

Don’t kid yourself. I’d wager that many of FR’s most politically divisive issues revolve around the views of Tammy [or ‘Tommy’] Faye type personalities.

I think it is more of a noobie girl drama thing. Akin to standing in the hallway of the middle school and screaming “I hate you. Don’t ever speak to me again”. A lot of women see disagreement over an issue as an indictment of them personally. That’s why they seek middle ground. When men hold their ground (as we do), it makes them angry.

Nothing irritates people more than you pointing out something obvious to them that they are trying hard to ignore. When I do that, people get really steamed at me. Wait until Hillary wins the primary. When people bring up Bill’s affairs, it will get really ugly.

The real problem is that the 'rule' says, -- " do not post to or about" whomever.
-- Thus protecting the political views of the person complaining from rebuke.

As long as the complainant is not being personally attacked, remarks about the position he takes should be open for discussion.
The "about" rule does seem to be selectively enforced - as, in its effect, it is being used [by the complainants] to protect some pretty weird non-conservative viewpoints.

Nothing irritates people more than you pointing out something obvious to them that they are trying hard to ignore.

And in this case its obvious that FR is enforcing a 'rule' that is allowing some here to shut up their most "hard to ignore" opponents.

I also dislike it when someone says they weren’t posting “to” another person. A public post is not a private conversation. If someone doesn’t want others to “butt into” their conversations, that’s what freepmail is for. Otherwise, they ain’t THEIR conversations, they’re OURS. A public post is an open invitation to anyone to comment.
