Ron Paul Dominates Non-partisan Straw Poll

Washington D.C. 8/27/2007 5:20 PM GMT (FINDITT - Top Story)

USAElectionPolls.com has an audience of about 67,000 visitors per month according to the latest statistics by Quantcast -- making it the most visited polling website with the exception of RealClearPolitics. The web site has been having an online straw poll for three days on voters' preference for the 2008 election; both Democrats and Republicans are listed.

Ron Paul is leading the group of almost 20 candidates with 51%. Even more impressive is that he currently has 1744 votes while the second place candidate Dennis Kucinich has 613 votes -- 18%. Ron Paul leads the next closest Republican competitor in the online poll 51% to 3%.

Ordinarily, very little can be made of such results. They could be flukes. The web site's target audience could be Ron Paul, etc. But USAElectionPolls.com gets an immense amount of traffic all across the United States and it is a non-partisan website that talks about all of the candidates.

The poll is still open and can be found on the front page.

I suspect (LOL) that we differ on Ron Paul, but I have to compliment you on a hand well played.

Too many hits. Ironic to use that term on a Paul thread...

My reply to EEE was: "You're sure about that are you? And just when did they fight the Revolutionary War for us?"

His statement was that if it hadn't been for the French we'd be speaking the Queen's English. I disagree. And I was pointing out that they never, ever, fought the Revolutionary war for us. Sure, they helped, as I acknowledged in a later post. But to imply that had it not been for them we'd never have won is simply an opinion.

No doubt they helped, but to what degree that assistance was instrumental in "Amereica's victory" is open for debate.

I think your parting comment 'maybe a loser' is right on.

Your comments are stupid and hateful including one comment that is outright religious bigotry.

You oughta get a load of what they call me in those two kook forums these days...

LOL. But you were a member of those kook forums for years, weren't you? Not that I care. But your injuries seem self-inflicted, at least in part.

Of course, I am glad you left the Dark Side and came back here.

if I’m not mistaken, Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian in the 80’s and they are strongly pro-choice.

He did. And they were.

But when they talked him into running under their banner, his pro-life position was non-negotiable. They did manage to get him to tone it down a bit but he was, as always, a pro-life baby doctor.

The LP's problem is that Ron Paul actually was the wedge opening for pro-lifers among their members. Now they don't take an official position because they have too many pro-lifers in the ranks. LOL.

Politics and strange bedfellows.

Only Liberty post. And it degenerated after the 2004 election cycle. There was a time you could have an honest debate there with all political points of view well represented.

I never actually ‘left’ FR. I just found at the time to much of the ‘echo chamber’ sentiment here back around 2002 - 2004.

As for ‘self inflicted injuries’ yep, thats the propaganda line the now unemployed sally likes to offer up in emails.

The fact she’s so dumb she doesn’t realize they get forwarded is kinda funny....(chuckle0

True, it was with us not for us.

I was always astounded in my college studies of military history, many years ago, of how much French helped us. Though it may have been for less then altruistic reasons, more against the British than for us. It would have at least been a tougher, longer fight.

As for the loser, well, yeah...

Thanks for posting that. I doubt even Iraqi’s have read their own Constitution.

“Islam is the official religion of the state and is a basic source of legislation: (a) No law can be passed that contradicts the undisputed rules of Islam. (b) No law can be passed that contradicts the principles of democracy. (c) No law can be passed that contradicts the rights and basic freedoms outlined in this constitution.”

If anything, the above is completely contradictory. It may as well read “(a)The following statement is true. (b)The preceeding statement was false. (c)a and b may be reversed if suits Allah and the Quran.

If anything, The Libertarian Party “punts” on the issue of abortion.

http://www.lp.org/issues/platform_all.shtml#reprodright

I.8 Reproductive Rights

The Issue: The tragedies caused by unplanned, unwanted pregnancies are aggravated and sometimes created by government policies of censorship, restriction, regulation and prohibition.
Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on both sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.

The Principle: Individual rights should not be denied nor abridged on the basis of sex, age, dependency, or location. Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for other people’s abortions, nor should any government or individual force a woman to have an abortion. It is the right and obligation of the pregnant woman regardless of age, not the state, to decide the desirability or appropriateness of prenatal testing, Caesarean births, fetal surgery, voluntary surrogacy arrangements and/or home births.

Solutions: We oppose government actions that either compel or prohibit abortion, sterilization or any other form of birth control. Specifically we condemn the practice of forced sterilization of welfare recipients, or of mentally retarded or “genetically defective” individual. We support the voluntary exchange of goods, services or information regarding human sexuality, reproduction, birth control or related medical or biological technologies. We oppose government laws and policies that restrict the opportunity to choose alternatives to abortion.

I am a big fan of Ron Paul the Congressman.

I am still not 100% sold on the idea of Ron Paul the President. That’s why I’m on the ping list.

What else is this forum for if not to listen to other presumably intelligent people’s positions?

Troublemaker!

Now take your assigned position in our circular firing squad. It only works if we all stand in a circle with machine guns!

Don't make me call the mods on you!

If you read through the LP website, the tendency toward pro-abortion positions is there but is veiled. They’re too afraid of losing their pro-life segment.

Yes, I think even the most vile do in fact ‘miss me’. They can’t seem to go a week without my being the ‘topic’.

Hence my term ‘anti groupies’.
