Sizzling study concludes: Global warming 'hot air'
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | August 20, 2007

A major new scientific study concludes the impact of carbon dioxide emissions on worldwide temperatures is largely irrelevant, prompting one veteran meteorologist to quip, "You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide."

That comment comes from Reid Bryson, founding chairman of the Department of Meteorology at the University of Wisconsin, who said the temperature of the earth is increasing, but that it's got nothing to do with what man is doing.

"Of course it's going up. It has gone up since the early 1800s, before the Industrial Revolution, because we're coming out of the Little Ice Age, not because we're putting more carbon dioxide into the air."

"Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming bites the dust," declared astronomer Ian Wilson after reviewing the newest study, now accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed Journal of Geophysical Research.

I thought "scientists" were behind the belief in global warming. Even the simplest student should be able to tell from those numbers that CO2 is irrelevant in the warming of the earth.

The fact that the numbers are small or that the amount of one thing is tiny in comparison to other things has nothing at all to do with whether or not it can have a large impact. That's determined by other factors. If you don't know those other factors, simply making an assessment by saying, "Them number's are soooo small; they can't possibly have any effect on something this big" is itself unscientific and unthinking. See how many molecules of botulinin it takes to bring down an organism billions and billions of times greater in terms of numbers of molecules. There are a lot of other things involved. In the matter of anthropogenic GW, it turns out that even doubling, tripling, or quadrupling the total amount of atmospheric CO2 wouldn't have effect past a certain (small) point).

Wonder how those states or nations that ran industries out of their country to stop carbon emissions feel now. Its really hard to get a factory and industrial complex employing thousands or tens of thousands to relocate to your area. They most likely permanently lost those jobs.

Whether the Earth is heating up is unknowable. It could be argued either way till dooms day, which will come when our sun blows itself, and us, to atoms.

To so-called environmentalists I say:

In a hundred billion eons,
Or tomorrow, for all we know,
Who will save the spotted owl
When Sol begins its dying-sun glow?

When oceans begin to boil away
What will tree-huggers do?
When all is Gone With the Astral Wind,
The Old Growth as well as the New

Who will care what happens to
The whales or Snails who dart,
When our sun turns white hot
and blows itself, and us, apart.

So much for the ecko-freaks cause
When all around us float
The dust of everything that was
But now is just a mote.

So use and enjoy our Worldly gifts
For Earth’s final fate
Is to be mere cinder bits
Drifting about in frozen space.

Didn't you just negate this "The fact that the numbers are small or that the amount of one thing is tiny in comparison to other things has nothing at all to do with whether or not it can have a large impact." with your concluding statement?

That's part of the whole argument against CO2 increases causing global warming. Since other factors ARE involved simply claiming that CO2 increases as the main cause of GW, as the GW alarminsts are now touting, cannot be the sole cause of GW.

Here in the Seattle area, 16 days out of the first 21 days of August have been below normal Temps. It really feels more like September with mostly cloudy days and cool crisp nights. We even had some areas of flooding due to a couple of really rainy days. Floods are very very rare this time of year. This has been the shortest Summer I can remember. Sooooooo whoever is hoarding all that Global warming, please send some our way, so I can get a couple of more golf weekends in before I put the clubs away.

Any scientist who dismisses global warming is a tool of the Oil Industries.

LOL. Did it start with the whale oil industries in the early 1800's?

The real point here is that one does not need to be a physicist to debunk GW. It is mathematically impossible for mankind to be causing climate change, period.

Common sense vs. “religion”. No wonder we can’t reason with these alarmists.

In reality, this is simple more evidence that this is not about GW, it’s about socialism and government control.

"by God’s grace, we may hope not to replace it with yet another “global cooling/coming ice age” scare."

1998 was the peak of the current warming cycle. Mean temperatures have been falling ever since. I predict that in less than 5 years the very same people who today are instilling fear of "Global Warming", will be hyping "Global Cooling"

However, science be damned, the global warming zealots will still cling to their dogma no different than the 16th century Catholic Church’s support of Aristotle’s fixed earth universe, despite scientific proof to the contrary from Galileo and Copernicus.

1998 was the peak of the current warming cycle.

I believe those figures have been revised. 1934 is the hottest year on record.

"Along with dozens of other studies in the scientific literature, [this] new study belies Al Gore's claim that there is no legitimate scholarly alternative to climate catastrophism. Indeed, if Schwartz's results are correct, that alone would be enough to overturn in one fell swoop the IPCC's scientific 'consensus,' the environmentalists' climate hysteria, and the political pretext for the energy-restriction policies that have become so popular with the world's environmental regulators, elected officials, and corporations. The question is, will anyone in the mainstream media notice?" AEI's Schwartz concluded.
It is "the mainstream media's" business to promote - the mainstream media. And it does that by promoting alarms which suggest that it is vital to the public that they pay attention to - the mainstream media. So if "The question is, will anyone in the mainstream media notice [that fear of carbon combustion is unfounded]," the answer is, quite certainly,

"NO!"

Go to cafepress.com and make your own.

Grandpa Dave’s logo is good, you can ask him where he got it. Here’s my bumper-sticker idea:

Stop Global Warming. Spit into the wind.

“Joel Schwartz, of the American Enterprise Institute, said,”

That alone spells the death knell of anything he has to say being taken seriously. AGW`ers say the AEI is in the pocket of big oil.
