Mayor Gavin Newsom and District Attorney Kamala Harris have sent a letter to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger asking him to halt gun shows at the Cow Palace. The Crossroads of the West Gun Show happening there this weekend.

The letter follows a Thursday announcement by Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, that he would introduce legislation to ban gun shows at the arena.

The officials say that the shows attract people who sell guns illegally and that those guns are being used in crimes in the city. They have no evidence to support those claims, however.

The Crossroads of the West show will undoubtedly find a plethora of other venues clamoring to host it and Gavin Newsom’s antics; from his gay weddings to his boffing of his best friend’s wife, while doubtless making him the darling of Hedonism’s capitol, have effectively ended any statewide much less national ambitions he may have nursed.

Cow Palace has a Daly City address, not San Francisco, even though its on the border. Anyways, that is stupid of them to halt a gun show there.

California does not have a RKBA provision in its state Constitution. So the Democrats can do whatever they want about guns.

Correct, the Cow Palace is in Daly City which is in San Mateo County and borders San Francisco which has a city/county hybrid government.

The grounds are patrolled by both Daly City and SF PDs per a wiki entry.

Newsom and Harris announced Thursday they were working with Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, on state legislation to ban sales and ammunition at the Cow Palace.

Last week, the mayor signed legislation banning gun shows on city and county property, but San Francisco doesn’t have jurisdiction over the Cow Palace, which is located on state-owned land outside city limits.

Newsom said Schwarzenegger has agreed to send undercover law enforcement officers to this weekend’s Crossroads of the West Gun Show to arrest people selling guns illegally.
