Forecaster lowers '07 hurricane estimate
Hurricane researcher William Gray lowered his 2007 forecast slightly Friday, calling for 15 named storms, with eight becoming hurricanes and four becoming intense.
On May 31, at the outset of hurricane season, Gray had called for 17 named storms and nine hurricanes, five of them intense.
"We've lowered our forecast from our May predictions because of slightly less favorable conditions in the tropical Atlantic," said Philip Klotzbach, a member of Gray's team at Colorado State University.
The new forecast calls for three named storms, two hurricanes and one intense hurricane in August; five named storms, four hurricanes and two intense hurricanes in September; and five named storms, two hurricanes and one intense hurricane in October and November combined.
The Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, averages 9.6 named storms, 5.9 hurricanes and 2.3 intense hurricanes per year.

now wait a minute - this can't be. Where is AlGore to explain why this is???????

I’ll settle for one at this point... we could sure use a tropical storm in Raleigh to fix our water deficit...

You just wait...the GW Hysterics will scuttle out from underneath their various moss-covered rocks to screech that
because of g.w. there are fewer hurricanes?
How so, you may politely ask?
Because the scientists simply said so. There's no more argument. Now give them all your money and go live in a sod hut and wear bearskins.

I had just moved here when Fran hit Raleigh. We don't need any storms of any type.

This is impossible. Al Gore told us that we would continue to get more and more powerful Hurricanes.

Nah, Darth Rove’s weather machine is saving them all up for the summer of 2009 to embarrass President Hildebeest. ;)

Solar minimum.
Yeah, I know it's more complex than that.

We’ve had one storm to this point, right? If these predictions come true, then from here to October is going to be hell. Duh.

Don't you mean wear fig leaves? Well, gee. Thanks for throwing me into an emotional conundrum. I am now wracked with confusion & guilt:
1) If I wear bearskins, PETA will ostracize me for being an animal-killer
2) If I wear fig leaves, the plants-rights activists will vilify me for oppressing another life form for my benefit
3) If I wear a wooden-barrel or card-board box, the Sierra Club will hiss, "Forest-raper!"
4) If I ignore all this b.s., the Socialistic GW Hysterics will brand me a capitalist pig
Please help. I'm going insane trying to please everybody.

Since plants are living things, PETA should also crusade for vegetable rights and refrain from eating both animal and vegetable products. Henceforth, the only socially responsible thing to do is to eat dirt and drink unpurified water upon which no precious energy has been wasted.
Heh, heh. They'll all be dead in a couple of months.

There is only once answer: We must all go naked. And since gore-bull warming is going to make the whole world an oven, it will be quite comfortable.

have you ever wondered that they cant predict weather more than a few days, and the past 2 yrs they had to go back and downgrade the predictions for hurricanes- why do they think they can tell the future regarding the earths temps yrs down the road?
