The law also makes it illegal to possess or sell firearms on city and county property and ...

The measure's co-sponsors concede that it will have little effect on the proliferation of illegal firearms. The prohibition of guns on county property does not apply to Housing Authority sites, and the ban on selling guns on county property does not apply to the annual gun show at the Cow Palace.

If that is a ‘tough’ law, I wonder what the weak ones are like...

“The measure’s co-sponsors concede that it will have little effect on the proliferation of illegal firearms.”

Implicitly conceding that the only objective is to harass lawful gun owners.

He must be afraid that his atrocious leadership could result in someone taking a shot at him.

I asked an SFPD buddy of mine how hard it was to get a CCW in San Fran (I live in San Mateo which is one county south) and he said “Don’t even think about it unless you’re a blood relative of the Mayor...”

In other news, it is still legal in San Francisco to have a drug-fueled liaison on public property with an employee who is another employee’s wife.

I’m just guessing that “Housing Authority sites” means what most folks would refer to as “the projects”? I don’t favor any free person being deprived of their constitutional - God given - rights in any way, but this exception is strange to me and seems to support the notion that this whole law is only meant to harass a certain segment of the population.

Once again, the PC ass pounders in San Francisco get it back asswards...

A TOUGH gun law, would be one that called for the immediate execution of anyone committing a crime of violence with a gun....

A TOUGH gun law, would be one that MANDATED a minimum of 15 years for any convicted felon being in possession of a gun..

A TOUGH gun law, would be one that MANDATED a minimum of 10 years for anyone on parole or suspended sentence for ANY crime of violence/theft/drugs/ being in possession of a gun..

A TOUGH gun law, would ...........

I could go on, but you get my drift..

Typical of this fascist mayor. Make guns ownership illegal and make illegal aliens special citizens.

You are guessing right.

The limitation is probably because of constitutionality issues - they can’t ban guns in peoples homes, even if they are city property.

The rest is just the same old ritual for the sake of ritual.

Nothing happens in politics that is not foreseen and intended. They know damned well that crooks will continue to have guns! They know damned well that law-abiding people will obey the law and be victims of crime! They know it! Therefore they are responsible for all robberies, burglaries, and murders that happen in their city.

They are deliberately choosing to arm crooks and disarm honest people!

A ‘tough law’ on legal gun owners; easy for criminals to still get all they want from their local drug dealer or pimp.

San Francisco residents will be required to keep their guns in lock boxes or have trigger locks on their firearms . . . Officials did not say how they plan to enforce the lock box and trigger lock requirements . . ."

The next step is to allow the police to make unannounced and unwarranted (in both senses) "resident inspection" to ensure compliance.
