She was devoted to the prayer thread about her cousin Carrie ... As much pain as Gretchen was in, she never asked for prayers for herself on that thread. She was appreciative when they were offered, but she always directed prayers to Carrie.

What a blow this must be to her family. Father, please watch over them.

God bless you, my dear. You were a truly wonderful friend and gentle, caring soul. You will be missed A LOT.

Dolly, I just found this thread and read Mark’s letter and it truly made me cry. I remember her so well and so sorry to hear of her passing. Mark’s letter was remarkable and very sweet. My sympathies to all of you who were closer to her than I was but I do remember her so well on different threads. I used to get on threads and read everything and sometimes I just didn’t make a whole lot of comments. But I loved hearing everything!

Mark, we called Gretchen “GEM” on the Day in the Life of President Bush. Perhaps that will tell you how highly we regarded her. She is already missed there. Prayers for GEM, and for you and your family. I’m sure she’s with God.

If you were a friend of Gretchens & knew her you will really enjoy the moving story she wrote (link at the first post). They are her own words & own pix.. . It shows her spirit, focus, humor.. She sent me a few pix to use & I decided to use the one when she was younger with a young Mark. She also sent this pix of Mark & her a few years later. When he visits the thread perhaps he can put a year on it but from the glasses style I am guessing late 80s/early 90s; . I think it is WAY back in my email archives.
