Anybody watching OReily now? OReily says he'll point out and take to task any republicans going to right wing hate sites. Freerepublic was specifically mentioned.

Clinton apologist Lanny Davis has little room to talk about the right-wing 'hate' speech on FreeRepublic.com, he has little interest in exposing Hillary for what she is, a fraud. People at FR have exposed Rathergate, helped the Swift Boat group sink John Kerry and literally destroyed the LA Times attempt to smear Fred Thompson. In other words, FR has done RESPONSIBLE investigation of some of the nefarious activities taken by the left wing media, and Lanny is part of that. He would rather accuse others to justify the left-wing hate propoganda rather than answer the challenge. How typical.
Bill, YOU should peruse the website some afternoon and see what we talk about on FreeRepublic. As with ALL political sites there are those who spew hate of one type or another, however, Jim Robinson (owner), keeps that in check with excellent moderation. Check it out. www.FreeRepublic.com.

He’s just soft...all that time with the big bucks in a “journalism tower”...they get myopic about culture war stuff and grow soft by being immersed in it...homosexuality for example.
Bill O has his flaws too...that stuff with his staff member musta stung a bit
but....he is ok sometimes....folks worry too much what people call them....especially if it’s racist or bigot
and people that use the word hate as a tool to deflect others are no better than what they claim to fight...calling someone a hater is a smear.

I just wanted to let you know that this “FReeper” was highly insulted to hear your guest Lanny Davis
on your Monday, July 30th episode insult the Free Republic.com conservative online group as a ‘right wing hate site’—
(although he called it ‘freedomrepublican.com’ or somesuch)—I was even more disappointed that you let that
insult slide by responding, not verbatim, along the lines of “Yeah, but Republican candidates steer clear of those
kinds of websites” and that you would go after any candidate that did.
I have been a member of Free Republic for several years now, and I have to say that it is NOWHERE near the
evil likes of Daily Kos or Democratic Underground or a number of the extreme leftist online groups out there in
cyberspace. The majority of FReepers are decent, conservative people who do not use the foul-mouthed type of
language or disgusting pictures that are so prevalent on the correctly labeled ‘online extremist leftist hate groups’ like
DK and DU. Of course, there are always extreme extremists (and I often wonder if they are ‘plants’ from DK and DU)
who make boneheaded comments on FR— it is an instrument of free speech after all. The group moderators remove such
types pretty quickly, in my experience, though, unlike the so-called mods at DK and DU, who often contribute to the
trash being posted!
Anyway, I wish you had pointed out to Mr. Davis that the only comparison between FR and DK/DU is that they both
take place in cyberspace and cannot be compared otherwise. Free Republic is NOT a right wing hate group, not by a
long shot. I know a lot of people on FR don’t like your radio show or tv show—I’ve always enjoyed them for the most
part, even when I’ve disagreed with your viewpoints. I’ve even written to you and offered prayers and support for you
in the past when it seemed you were being railroaded with those sexual misconduct charges awhile back. I’m a conservative
Republican (for now, not very happy with the party lately)—just an anonymous soccer mom who loves her country with
an un-apologetic fervor who wants the best our society can offer, not the worst it can withstand to the detriment of our
citizens...I’m not a ‘right wing hater’ by any means. I’m sorry you feel that FreeRepublic.com is such a thing. :-(

It’s been recommended that people stop watching your show and that you correct this maligning viewpoint—it’s not my
place to keep anyone from their opinions and free speech—not even the DKers or DUers—or *YOU*. Doesn’t mean I
have to expose myself to that sort of stuff though. More’s the pity. :-(

Leftism is simply the idea that criticism is a higher activity than doing things. In its tyrannical forms it is rejection of any limit on criticism, leading to arbitrary government. And since journalism does nothing except to "point out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better," journalists are the natural allies of leftists.In fact, the idea around which "liberalism" coheres is that NOTHING actually matters except PR. It takes courage and conviction to swim upstream of the propaganda of which so-called "objective" journalism is capable.
So it is after all understandable that public figures would be cautious in the face of that much unaccountable power. Even in the Internet/talk radio age.
- Look at the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. They had an open-and-shut case; they were the experts on the topic they were discussing. But with the support of journalism, the Democrats have been able to use "swiftboating" as a verb meaning "to slander." On the basis of nothing but the word of John Kerry and his friends, whereas the Veterans in question constitute everyone who knew John Kerry in Vietnam but was not under the command of John Kerry in Vietnam.
- Look at the "Killian Memos," the Democrats' 2004 October Surprise. Those documents purported to have been made on a typewriter before word processing was commercially available. And yet, despite the sophistication and subtlety of Microsoft Word - including true superscripting, kerning, and other features - those documents contained no artifact suggesting that they were not made on a computer using Microsoft Word under its default settings. IOW, they were were crude frauds. And yet CBS not only ran with them, it stonewalled the obvious conclusion that in fact they were an October Surprise for the Democratic Party - and no other "objective" journalism outlet stated the obvious fact that CBS was in the tank for the Democrats and John Kerry.
- Journalism's condemnation of Senator Joseph McCarthy was, as Ann Coulter thoroughly documented, based on no substance at all.

My larger point is that Republicans never seem to really stake out territory and defend it unashamedly. I completely understand that it is infinitely easier to be a liberal than it is to be a conservative. It is always easier to give away other people’s money, it is always easier to try and relax moral standards, it is always easier to want to give away things that have no cost to the giver. I understand all this, but it seems that there is no coordinated effort to respond to Democrats. It seems that the response is always to shrink back, turtle-like, and almost apologize for taking up oxygen on the planet. Where are the real leaders? Where are the real group of leaders? Must all Republicans be completely feckless?
