Floods show global warming is here

As Britain counts the costs of the worst floods in 200 years, Charles Clover argues the signs of global warming are now impossible to ignore A still from the Robert Carlyle film, Flood

Big Ben, the London Eye and Westminster Abbey awash. The submerged streets of London indistinguishable from the Thames. Admittedly, the above image, arresting as it is, is the stuff of cinematic trickery. But could it happen? One day, if we are not careful, it just might.

Of course, nowhere in the country are flood defences built to a higher standard than in London, because of the value, strategic and otherwise, of what lies behind them, so Trafalgar Square is unlikely ever to be as vulnerable as Tewkesbury, even though most of the capital is on a flood plain.

But if the floods of this week have taught us anything, it is that few events can be more extraordinary than the weather - and there is plenty of reason to think long and hard about the extraordinary weather we have recently been experiencing.

Of course we all know that floods have never occurred before now. Therefore, global warming is real.

Global Warming:

Excessively hot summers: Follows the model.

Excessively cold winters: Just what you would expect.

Drought here: Global Warming, obviously.

Torrential Rains there: Mankind is to blame.

Hurricanes, yikes!: If you can't stand the heat, get the h-e-double-toothpicks out of the kitchen.

Hurricanes no more: If this isn't global warming, what is?

Ice peninsula breaks away: The sky is falling!

The ice cover is increasing world wide: Fits the model to a tee.

In the last half century the average temperature of the earth has risen, what, two thirds of a degree centipede. Will it stay static until 12-31-2099, then at midinight jump 20 degrees? Global warming has just about everything as theories go...everything, that is, except rising temperatures.

The climate model called for hotter drier summers just before they got this colder, wetter deluge but, according to the article, this could also fit the forecast.

All the reports on the MSM that I have seen of course report the increased rain, but none that I have seen have mentioned that cooler temps that have also been occurring there. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Somewhere I hear the voice of Herve Villechaize.

“Baas, it’s de rains, de rains.”

“Yes, Tattoo, this commentator is on Fantasy Island.”

Exactly the problem with an unfalsifiable assertion. Everything can be interpreted as an affirmation even when the most direct interpretation would suggest otherwise. Just because a certain weather pattern has not occurred for 400 years or even 40 does not mean that some vast disaster is afoot. It means what rational men have known for centuries that the weather and climate changes.

Just because such changes are inconvenient to modern man we now have a generation primed to believe fairy tales that somehow normal climate fluctuations which fall well within the known constraints of the past weather patterns are the result of the irresponsibility of man the net result of which is a small increase of CO2 that does not exceed the single digits. The individuals that believe such things are not unique or overly deep in their analysis because they apply the same false premises to everything whether it be the things they eat or the air they breath. It is a simpleton’s dilemma and the philosopher’s burden.

Humanity is is under attack from within and if the kooks win in their desire to restrict the progress of man for the sake of a steady state climate that has never existed man with have effectively guaranteed its steady decline and eventual extinction. The twilight of man will have come on the backs of good intentioned fools who have as their focus the elimination of themselves to save the world. It is surely a unique way to address the problems of man. If there is no man there are no problems for man.

Actually, it’s the heating of the oceans, which leads to greater evaporation, leading to greater precipitation.

Besides, it’s the antarctic ice caps, not the isostatic arctic ones.

(I know you were being facetious, but I just had to clarify for visiting DUmmies that we *do* understand. :-)

I swear, people who fall for Man-Made Climate Disaster scenarios are as gullible and unlearned as tribal folks who cower in fear of a Western astronomer who predicts a lunar eclipse.

“What do they suggest we do to stop all this global warming ?”

Abandon capitalism and embrace socialism and we’ll have instant global harmony and mother earth will love us again.

“As Britain counts the costs of the worst floods in 200 years”

OBVIOUS QUESTION:

If Today’s flooding proves global warming, what did the WORSE FLOODS 200 yeras ago prove?????

Do reporters even take LOGIC 101 anymore?

The entire Global Whoring debate boils down to this simple quote, from 18 years ago:

“We Must Embrace Environmetalism, For Socialism To Survive”
Hans-Jochen Vogel, Chairman of the West German Social Democratic Party-1989

Two billion years of constant climate change and suddenly it's a problem.

I wish these doofuses had some anger management control, so some real debates can take place; preferably on national television.

Yeah.

There is a strong and growing “Global Warming Industry”. Carbon Offsets, etc., are examples. This is nothing compared to what is ahead! Just wait for local, state, and national governments to find a way to collect taxes off this scam.
