UNFATHOMABLE (Connecticut home invasion robbery/murders)

A judge getting ready to send Joshua Komisarjevsky to prison in 2002 called him a "cold, calculating predator."

Equipped with night-vision goggles and armed with a knife, he would slash his way through screens into houses around his hometown of Cheshire, stealing mostly electronic equipment and petty cash to pay for a drug habit.

Steven Hayes had a record more noteworthy for its length than the severity of the crimes - decades of larcenies, burglaries and check forgeries. Hayes committed most of his crimes in the northwest corner, near his home in Winsted - far from Sorghum Mill Drive in Cheshire, where the horrific events that landed him back in court played out early Monday.

Although it is still unclear why they chose the home of Dr. William Petit Jr., one thing is certain, police say: The "calculating predator" and the career criminal descended to a level of violence that is almost unfathomable.

When the ordeal was over, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, and her daughters, Hayley Petit, 18, and Michaela Petit, 11, were dead. The girls, sources said, were tied to their beds and raped, then left to burn after gasoline was poured around their beds and ignited.

Late Tuesday, the state medical examiner's office said Hawke-Petit was strangled and her daughters died of smoke inhalation. Their deaths were ruled homicides.

William Petit was beaten almost beyond recognition with a baseball bat, tied up in the basement and left for dead, only to make his way out of the house and to a neighbor before his home exploded into flames.

In CT. Last time I checked... to get a 20 gauge shotgun you need only go to a gun store. Wait the 2 weeks for a check to complete and take it home. No permit needed.

Handguns on the other hand are as described and require a nuisance of red tape.

“the wife had been diagnosed with MS. I say the Dr. Didn’t want to care for a sick wife and had this done to his family.”

He was beaten beyond recognition. How do you do that to yourself?

Besides, they caught the perps fleeing in the family vehicle.

If you had the three strikes law that we have in California this might not have happened.

Komisarjevsky is another one of those cases where a boy is adopted by an excellent family but somehow, at an early age, he is already a bad seed and cannot be set right by his environment.

Can you say public schools?

Oh! I know that if you are a foster child YOU CANNOT be homeschooled by law. I don’t know if this is forced upon adopted parents.

Another example of the unions forcing their way on the sheeple.

I know this is not a dog thread, and I’m not trying to make it one. But, I do want to offer some sound advice to anyone living in this country today: Get a Doberman. Repeatedly, when I have been away, our Doberman is the only barrier standing between my fiancee and the drunks, druggies, and derelicts who have become a protected class in our society.

Until we can get back to the days when law officers could tell vagrants, “Move on, we don’t like your kind around here,” you can expect more stories like this. And just for the record, yes, I do believe you can most frequently judge a book by its cover.

No problem. I have a Rott/Shepard, a black Lab - both are over 80 pounds and female...and my up and coming ‘boy’ a yellow Lab that at 22 weeks is already 46 pounds.

They are the best alarm/security system money can buy. The Lab is the alarm system, the Rott is the ‘enforcer’.

The pup just runs around seemingly asking ‘What r we doin! What r we doin!...till the Rott growls in effect’ shuddup and learn, kid’.

It is bitterly ironic that the very same “progressives” who facilitated the repeated release of these vermin, will be in the vanguard of those clamor to block their execution.

The real accomplices of Hayes and Komisarjevsky are the hand wringing judges, subversive ACLU lawyers, and social activists who continue to permit these outrages.

It should be no surprise that this crowd holds candlelit vigils for cop-killers and the murderers of young girls. They worry that Islamist terrorists have a diet “sensitive” to their religious concerns and get to play ping-pong for their recreation. They claim that the Second Amendment is a “collective” right held by the state and try to block citizens’ access to firearms at every turn. Why can’t they see that if even one of the Petits had a gun, Mom and the girls might not have been raped and burned alive.

We in Connecticut should remember the long delay in the execution of Michael Ross, a fiend who murdered eight young women. He languished in prison for nearly two decades, filing appeal after appeal, blogging on his sicko website. Truthfully, he was executed only because he wanted to die and ceased any further appeals. Otherwise, the liberal judiciary would still be denying those victims justice. They would continue to circumvent the righteous authority of the electorate by ignoring capital punishment laws enacted by our legislature and signed by our governor.

My prayers go out for Dr. Petit, his family, friends and the good people of Cheshire. I vow not forget. I promise to work to prevent this from happening to any more of my neighbors. We cannot allow these who served notice long ago that they are unfit to walk among us to escape execution. We are obliged to punish this horror, and quickly. Hayes and Komisarjevsky have an appointment in hell.
