MCMINNVILLE, Ore., July 22 (UPI) -- Two 13-year-old Oregon boys are facing serious sex charges for allegedly slapping female classmates' bottoms as a form of horseplay.
Police arrested Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison of McMinnville and if convicted could be permanently marked as sex offenders, The Portland Oregonian said Sunday. The teens also could spend as long as 10 years in juvenile detention if found guilty.
While the boys' parents have opposed such a harsh penalty, McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry said such youthful acts could have longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
Interviews with the boys' fellow students found other teens were engaging in similar behavior at the time and two of the female victims have since recanted their statements.
The Oregonian said the boys are due in court on Aug. 20 to answer to all charges stemming from the February event.
All the boys need is a good caning.
God help us if they were, kids aren’t naturally “gay”.
Not to defend the principal as I don’t know his/her motivation but if one of the girls (that was participating in the grab butt game) had gone home and complained, he/she would have been accused of covering up a sex crime. You know some idiot mother would have come up with this.
I popped a girl’s bra strap in 5th grade. Had a major crush on her. She knew it. Her Mom knew it. I got invited to her birthday party that year. “Spin the bottle” did not favor me that day, and courage failed me, and we never went to the roller-rink together.
In today’s environment they probably would have sent me to some kind of re-education camp.

Oh, give me a break!! I've had worse done to me when I was that age, and thre's nothing wrong with me. (Talking about breast grabbing, poking, etc.) Geeez!
Have we got another one of the slime bags like the one in North Carolina? The more I hear the more I think persecutors are like little Nazi who only want to get their names in the paper.
Put me on the jury and they will be found NOT Guilty and the persecutor will be found GUILTY.
Oh yeah . . . . . . . that’s the way to solve it. Get the damned lawyers involved. What the boys did was definitely wrong but 13 year olds permanently labeled as “sex offenders”. If I had a million dollars to spend I donate it to a campaign to getting this prosecutor recalled for a lack of common sense. If I was the judge I’d give the parents an alternative you solve it at home or you solve it with hand grenades at three paces AND NO OTHER ALTERNATIVES !!!

Last time I played grab ass the girl, woman actually, turned around and whopped me upside the head with an open hand. Made my ears ring and my face turned beet red, don’tcha know. Never did that again.

That’s an angle I hadn’t considered. I suppose that’s the risk you take if you’re a school principal, because the safety/welfare of the children come first. Otherwise, the principal would have to elevate all sorts of unruly behaviors into legal issues. One boy snaps a towel at another in gym class. Call the police! Someone calls someone else a name. Hate crime! A boy touches a girl’s ass? Sexual assault!
The teachers and other school staff should be able to handle these issues at the lowest possible level of authority. In this case, it appears the school was completely incompetent and the DA even more so.
Are you serious? What should have happened is the girls slapped the boys in retaliation, then told their parents, their parents told the boys parents, and boys parents whoop their butts. This kind of prosecution is retarded in the most retarded sense of the word. Friggin dumber than dog crap.
