Cindy Sheehan attacks: Democrats not saviors
WorldNetDaily ^ | 7/22/07 | Joe Kovacs

Posted on 07/22/2007 3:59:24 PM PDT by wagglebee

Cindy Sheehan, the so-called "Peace Mom" who once called terrorists killing Americans in Iraq "freedom fighters," is now attacking the Democratic Party as she continues her quest to win the congressional seat of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

"Don't tell me the Democrats are our 'saviors' because I am not buying it – especially after they bought more caskets and more devastating pain when they financed and co-facilitated more of President Bush's abysmal occupation [of Iraq]," writes Sheehan in an op-ed piece published in today's San Francisco Chronicle. "The Democrats also are allowing a meltdown of our republic by allowing the evils of the executive branch to continue unrestrained by their silent complicity."

Sheehan admits she was a lifelong Democrat "only because the choices were limited."

"The Democrats are the party of slavery and were the party that started every war in the 20th century, except the other Bush debacle. The Federal Reserve, permanent federal income taxes, not one but two World Wars, Japanese concentration camps, and not one but two atom bombs dropped on the innocent citizens of Japan – all brought to us via the Democrats."

"I will run as an independent because I find the corruption in both parties unhealthy, and I believe we need to have more allegiance to humans than to a political party," she added.

Sheehan says the feedback she has received since announcing her intention to run for Pelosi's seat – unless the speaker sought to impeach President Bush – has been running about 3-to-1 in favor of her quest.

"I am concerned with many of the same things: same-sex partnership laws, the environment, health care, affordable post-secondary education, better schools, counter-military recruitment, poverty, AIDS research and cures, decriminalization of marijuana, and especially stopping war and ensuring real peace," said Sheehan. "I think I agree with Pelosi on many of these issues, but the difference is, I don't live in a mansion on the hill. Many of these issues have affected me and my family personally, and I am committed to fighting for the people, not the corporate interests."

Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq sparking her career as an anti-war activist, says she holds nothing personal against Pelosi, and calls their previous interactions "very pleasant."

"However, being 'against' the occupation of Iraq means ending it by ending the funding, preventing future illegal wars of aggression and holding BushCo accountable," Sheehan said. "Words have to be backed up by action, and if they aren't, they are as empty as Vice President Dick Cheney's conscience."

I think it is just all suppose to take care of itself once we pull out of Iraq and the president has been impeached.

Excuse me, but who exactly do you think you are? My father has passed away, so there’s no one left on this Earth that can order me around, comprende?

Huh - does she lurk at FR? But...ah...the Federal Reserve? I'm having a difficult time equating jackbooted accountants with, say, Hiroshima, but then I'm not flying around in Cindy's head with the other bats.

BTW, Cindy, although I'd be the last person to defend Democrats, they didn't start WWI - that was the Germans - or WWII - Germans and Japanese - and it was Saddam Hussein who started Gulf War I. Kuwait, Cindy, remember Kuwait? No? It's in the Middle East...

That’s the cool thing about being an idealistic liberal... You just have to raise a bunch of feel good (or feel bad) issues - you don’t actually have to have a plan to do anything about them, let alone actually try...

Grin, yeah, as I remember it from history class, and oh...just about every other thing I’ve ever read, heard, or watched on the world wars... We weren’t involved when either one of them kicked off. But hey, if she wants to blame the ‘rats for starting them, fine by me. ;-/

“decriminalization of marijuana”

Gotta dis-agree here, it is just poison to the mind, but drug testing does weed-out alot of competition for better jobs, and I do value ‘Fiscal Security’.

The ‘rats will crush Cindy like a bug if she becomes more than a nuisance. If she had pulled the stunts on Clinton she pulled at the Bush ranch she would be in prison or worse.

Yeah, now you've embraced Communism. You haven't come right out and out it into those terms, but you will. The Democrats aren't radical enough for the likes of you. You need straight-out unapologetic Commies now.

I remember when this began to happen to the "Peace Movement" back in the early 70s. It was the point where the people advocating "peace" changed to advocating defeat.

Just as you and others of your ilk have done.... It was also the point where reasonable Democrats left the move toward "revolution", and only the nutballs stayed behind.

Your son must be scowling down from heaven at the pitiful traitor you have devolved into. Shame on you.
