(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
A mammoth that lived 4000 years ago was found in Alaska a few years back.
Also, scientists are mapping neanderthal DNA.
Mammoths and cavemen, together again. (they oughtta check the DNA of a couple of guys I work with, throwbacks for sure)

Just looks like a baby African elephant to me.
Wow, 3000 years before the earth. How is that possible.
“baby African elephant”
Maybe it was a hairless variety and that’s why it didn’t make it. Global warming in Siberia?
Twuely hugh!
Rut row. Call Algore. New Climate Change info for Algore. Paging Algore.
I am totally serial about this!
Very kool video.
It does look like a baby elephant though.
I have seen other unearthed mammoths and they all still have remnants of hair.
I may have missed it but did not see anything that resembled hair / fur.
“Wow, 3000 years before the earth. How is that possible.”
The earth is only 7,000 years old? By what clock, or by what calendar? If this comment has anything to do with what it says in Genesis Chapter 1, there is nothing there to date the earth.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
There is nothing in Genesis to date verse 1 relative to anything else in the Bible. There is no reason to believe that “In the beginning...” was only 7,000 years ago. And it is entirely probable that there was a creation relative to life on earth before Genesis 1:2. Genesis 1:2 describes a condition of chaos. I do not believe that God created chaos. Water covered the earth. It was dark. The water was likely frozen until the thawing effect of the Spirit of God moving upon the face of the deep. The earth was covered by “flood waters”.
My son is pretty sure he dug up a mammoth a few years ago, they’ve found them before in the vicinity but the boss told him they couldn’t afford a delay so he re-buried it. Whenever we visited he took us to show us where it is.
I think it was a sarcasm without a /sarc tag. It’s hard to believe that someone could put it seriously nowadays unless the one is from the Amazon rainforest or the Afghan highlands.
Is that the youngest ever found? 4000 years is fairly recent.
Maybe it’s one of L. Ron Hubbard’s aliens...
“I think it was a sarcasm without a /sarc tag.”
Agree. Thought so when I wrote my reply comments. Just wondering if I might get rebuttals from any who might really think “7,000” or so years.
Without mentioning “names” though I know a few people in certain churches who think that the Bible says things that it does not say - interpretations and even the reading is subject to doctrinal teachings. Doctrine of course is a nasty thing - doctrine is man-made, just as religion is man-made. The religious system that God hates includes denominations that think “they” are the only ones not destined for “hell”.
Mammoth tusk was hunted as a gem commodity in Siberia in the last 1800’s, early 1900’s. Most of the stuff you find for sale today on eBay and other sites was found in that time frame.
Got ‘em too here in Los Angeles.
