There are several stores I've been in recently that everyone has to show their receipts upon leaving the store.
I bet this is the case here.

They are seeking compensatory and punitive damages of at least $200 million each on behalf of the class.Poor babies. Think that would compensate them for all their pain & suffering?? /s

Patricia Drayton and Valerie Kirk said in the lawsuit that the store in The Bronx, a borough of New York City, discriminated against them by asking them to show their sales receipts (snip) The lawsuit said black shoppers are subjected to compulsory inspection of their sales receipts while white shoppers are not.
The Bronx? Are there white shoppers there? Most likely, thefts are high in that store and that is the policy for that particular store, whereas I bet thefts are low in suburban Iowa, so they don't have to show receipts there.
They're suing for over $200 million for having to show receipts.
To: Redcitizen
I’ll bet someone asked “Is that a teddy bear in your pocket or are you glad to see me?”.
To: Millee
I would have shown the receipt and thought nothing of it.
After all, it is private property and I do not have to shop there. I might have said a few choice words if I had gotten upset. But that would be it.
