AS THE WORLD'S scientists near consensus on human causes of climate change, even Exxon is cutting contributions and distancing itself from the global warming denial industry.
The deniers haven't conceded defeat, and lately have found a substitute for the "sound science" they once demanded. Their new tactic is the drive-by shooting.
The objective is distraction, to be achieved by demeaning the oracles, particularly the "Goreacle," of global warming.

We should use their approach when it comes to non-believers of God.
Two points
1 IF the earth is warming? Sounds to me like you’re one of those who’ve been bought out by (cue the ominious music) Big oil, Big tobacco, Big leggo, and all the other evil giant multi-national corp. that want to enslave us.
To find out what’s really going on I recommend you go to
www.crazy as a loon. org.
2 With global warming happening the entire world will look like the Gobi dessert all the cute furry animal will die a horrible lingering death, there will be no more baby seals for us to admire and love.
To stop this there’s only one thing to do...start running around in circles waving our arms and shouting loudly GLOBAL WARMING GLOBAL WARMING.
I have decided not to get excited about these idiots. When we have record cold in Scranton, PA in June, snow in July in Argentina, record cold in South Africa and Australia, I think they will get it when the iceberg finally hits their ship.
See my profile, point #2.
I thought they ALREADY had consensus. Now we are denying something that is not concluded?
I like how they have backed off their certainty a bit while at the same time smacking those who are not conceding.
You're almost there. Enlightenment Awaits.
Here's a clue:
Anthropogenic. Caused by Humans.
Earth's population, 6.5 Billion Humans, plus Mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, insects.. Wild and domesticated.
Solution:
Eliminate about 4 Billion humans.
I figure we're all on the list.
Well, except those in the service industries.
Someones got to serve veggie burgers to the elite surviving inheritors of the Earth.
Why would a snow in July be a thing of special note in Argentina?
The UN estimates between 4 and 5.5 depending upon the lifestyle. The Global Biodiversity Assessment, concludes:
The current global population is approximately 6 billion. The trend of growth rate is declining and may turn negative this century. Estimates of carrying capacity range from 1 to 40 billion people, depending upon whom you ask, but perhaps the statement is more revealing than it would at first seem.
Thats how many people it will support, the way they intend to run it.
They won't have enough people left to take care of the planet.
“Who could have forecast a 2-degree rise in Antarctica’s temperature in just 35 years?”
The only other place I read this claim was on the Sierra Club website from a 1997 article:
“Another major contributor to ocean mass could be the antarctic ice shelves, which are deteriorating at a rapid rate; two huge chunks, each the size of Rhode Island, have fallen off in the past two years. The mean temperature in Antarctica has risen by 2 degrees since 1950, and the enormous Larsen B ice shelf is riven with cracks, leading some scientists to predict its demise within two years.”
Guys like this writer must keep files on all this stuff forever.
That will be proclaimed as proof that the people who invested in carbon offsets saved the planet.
You often see such flawed "logic" put forward by proponents of the humans-caused-the-global-warming scam, but in fact such observations pull the rug out from under their main argument. They have put all of their faith into dire predictions made by scientists, because the scientists' models and predictions portend a dire future.
When they say that climate change is proceeding even faster than even pessimistic scientists predicted a few years ago, they want us to conclude that therefore the situation should be treated with even more urgency than before.
However, a much more rational and intelligent way to interpret such "even greater than predicted" statements is to realize that they reveal the inconvenient truth that those scientists who made the original predictions have proven beyond a doubt the worthlessness of their own predictive powers.
The essence of real science is observing and analyzing a phenomenon, making hypotheses that may explain why the phenomenon occurs, and then devising tests or experiments that can generate unambiguous evidence that either supports or does not support those hypotheses. If the result of an experiment is "the result was much greater than we predicted", that is not a validation of the prediction. Rather, it is the opposite - it reveals that whatever mechanism may have been driving the results, that mechanism is not at all well understood by the person who made the prediction. It shows that the predictor's model or hypothisis is wrong, not that it is right...
Yet know-nothings like the author of this article would have us take the results of failed predictions as an urgent impetus to immediate action.
A single kingdom; who will be king?
Do they count the temperatures for the fires themselves into their “average” temperature? It wouldn’t surprise me.
Paul
Ummmm..... Finn...... I hate to mention this little fact, but Argentina, South Africa and Australia are all in the southern hemisphere, thus it’s winter there.
It’s supposed to be cold in July there.
Paul
It is written, but first we'll get The Prince. ;-)
You speak the unmitigated TRUTH, oh great King of the Issaquah nation!!!
THAT's a VIOLATION of CHURCH & STATE, right THERE!!! (call the cops!!!)
Would you mind defining this strange word for my aging mind??? (grin)
Funny how they never notice the glaciers that are growing.
Of course, National Geographic says that many glaciers are growing because of global warming.
How conveeeeenient.
Thanks for coming out Walt! Couldn’t help but take a good shot at those that needed it...and pinging those in the know!
