No he would not change his vote. With the Democraps it is always do as I say not as I do. They like African Americans are a special breed and very emotional so as Tavis Smiley says,we are an emotional people so that excludes us from the law.

He needs to be put on trial. You can’t shoot someone who’s merely trying to steal wire from a construction site, and everyone knows that pocket knives do not kill. Only guns kill.

“No charges have been filed against Miles...”

Since the law is not in effect yet, they ought to give him a taste of his own medicine. If I’m reading this right, he was on a construction site. But the new law doesn’t protect people on a construction site anyway. It only protects them in their homes, vehicles and workplaces. So this guy is toast in any event.

... is licensed to carry a concealed weapon...

Since he was on his own property, why is this even a consideration? Is it the lib "journalist's" way of announcing to the world that he has a CCW?

Can somebody remember the name of the Washington Post reporter who railed against private ciizens owning guns, then shot someone breaking into his home?

It sounds to me like he is one of those former law enforcement officers that believes that he and his fellow officers are capable of determining when deadly force should be used, but mere citizens are not.

In my experience most law enforcement officers are supportive of the right to keep and bear arms as well as the right to self defense, but there are unfortunately quite a few that are not.

he heard a noise downstairs and saw two men trying to steal the copper.

In CA, the cops would argue that he was not in any danger upstairs and this Vigilante, playing John Wayne, deliberately and maliciously went downstairs heavily armed and gunned down this poor youth trying to feed his family.

I am not a gun person, but aiming for an extremity like the leg is usually not a good idea is it? Maybe the Representative is a particularly good shot. Or maybe he missed.
