Gore: Son's arrest is 'a private family matter'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Al Gore says he's dealing with his son's arrest in California "as a private family matter."
Al Gore the Third, who is 24, was arrested early yesterday. Sheriff's deputies say he was driving about 100 miles per hour on the San Diego Freeway. They arrested him on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs.
The former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee appeared on the "Today" show on NBC this morning. He says he's glad his son is safe and is "getting treatment." He also says he's thankful no one was hurt.
Al Gore the Third completed substance abuse counseling to settle pot possession charges in suburban Washington in 2003.
Gee, perhaps the ever perpetual dainty, ethereal and charming advice of her highness Paris Hilton can save young Gore and give him the strength with which to turn his life around to serve and enrich mankind. Oh hail the ever exalted celebutard Paris.

Sometimes you need to look beyond the black letter and ask yourself stuff like... what does that term "The United States" mean? A lawyer with no imagination would look at is as a limiting clause limiting it to federal crimes, whereas a lawyer with imagination could look at it as an expansive clause.
I don't think it has been tested, but considering the fact that there were very few "federal crimes" other than treason at the time the Constitution was written, I think one could argue that the pardon power extends to all crimes committed within the territory and jurisdiction of the United States of America.

I’m against the war on (some) drugs, but I am also against driving while impaired.
But it will be the possession that is the bigger charge here.
1) Just answer every question.
2) If you don't know the law, make it up and apply your made up law to the facts of the case.
3) Read the question carefully at least 3 times before you start writing anything.
4) After you have finished reading the question, go to the restroom and take a leak.
5) Do not assume facts not in evidence.
6) Send us all invitations to your swearing in.

BTW, the premise of the article is flawed. A multiple arrest, non-minor caught with illegal drugs is not a “it’s only chelsea being a child” kind of thing.
It’s not the first offense.
It’s not “just marijuana.”
I’d say that a 24 year old should be dealt with as an adult, wouldn’t you say????

Driving 100 miles per hour on a public highway, is no private matter to me.
