George W Bush could have a fine, simple and genuine legacy (vanity): "Mr. Bush, build this fence."

Posted on 06/30/2007 9:46:03 PM PDT by Cringing Negativism Network

Build a fence. It's not rocket science.

Then. Only then. Raise the issue of amnesty.

Heck, citizenship at that point.

Because finally, then, people will BELIEVE what we're told by our so-called representatives.

For those who complain and protest it's not practical:

The Ming Dynasty in China, built a solid wall wide enough for two soldiers on horseback to ride side by side, from brick, more than 500 years ago, several thousand miles long. Across mountains. Containing all the troops in Mongolia.

They didn't have bulldozers. No trucks. No machines.

They did have determination.

Israel has built, an extremely effective barrier.

It's not like sending a man to the moon or anything.

Come to think of it. Why haven't we sent a man back to the moon?

Bush refused to sign Kyoto, gave us 2 excellent SCJ’s and saw the need for a WOT. I just don’t understand his stance on our southern border. I’m truly baffled.

No Amnesty, Ever !
They need to go back one way or the other, and get in a very long , very slow, very bureaucratic line if they ever want citizenship. The wall was already promised and the un-enforced laws have been in place for decades. The U.S. needs to build the physical fence and start deportation .

These tax-evading lawbreakers should never, ever, be allowed to vote in this country . There are many good people who have been waiting in line, that truly want to become Americans . So I say, No Amnesty , Ever !

Mr. Chertoff needs to answer a question. He was given a law on October 26 of last year, seven months ago, a mandate by the president of the United States and the U.S. Congress, both houses voting in overwhelming fashion, to build 854 miles of border fence.

And if you ask him today how much he’s built, he’s built precisely 13 miles of one layer of a double fence, meaning it’s going to take him 40 years, at that rate, to build the border face.

Mr. Chertoff is charged with securing the border. And the one thing he’s not doing — he’s appearing on lots of talk shows. He is not securing the border.

We need to secure that border. And let me tell you, Wolf. There’s no reason not to do it. You just did a major special on the terrorist acts that are taking place around the world. We’ve got a 2,000-mile open border. And for some reason, this administration does not want to secure that border in a very simple way.

Do you actually expect him to say, “I am a globalist and cannot hinder open borders or free trade”?

I think Bush hired that guy as his adviser on border security.

I've never believed there was a war on terror with the border wide open. It's a war on selected terror.

While I agree to a certain extent that the WOT makes no sense with a porous southern border, I have to say that Bush has certainly done more to take the fight to them than anyone else has done.

It should be a war on our enemy, Islamo-facists, not on an emotional state of being.

I don't honestly care why he doesn't see the need. I don't understand his reticence but I guess that I don't need to. We need the fence.
