The Presidents Statement - (barf alert)

Posted on 06/28/2007 10:31:23 AM PDT by Scythian
PRESIDENT BUSH: I thank the members of the Senate and members of my administration who worked so hard on the border security and immigration reform bill. I'm sorry the Senate was unable to reach agreement on the bill this morning.
Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people, and Congress's failure to act on it is a disappointment. The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws. A lot of us worked hard to see if we couldn't find common ground. It -- it didn't work. ...

President Bush, T am sorry that I, your unofficial speech writer, was late with your speech...
I admit I am drunk with power and relief....
Here is your speech as written by me, your typical REAL immigrant...
“The American people have spoken...
Their senators they sent to Washington have reflected the citizens decision in their vote against this Bill...
Once more the legislative process of our sovreign nation has been exercised..
God bless America and have a great Fourth of July..”

That’s it. I won’t be voting for Bush/Cheney in 2008.

Personally, I don't think it's a bad statement. (Especially if he really said or meant "illegal" immigration, not "legal" ... which I think is probable.)
It's pretty conciliatory actually ... he didn't attack opponents of the bill.

Man you love riding that high horse don't ya? I don't have to call him president if I don't want to. He considers me far less than that. Remember we didn't want what is best for the country, only he and Teddy Kennedy know what that is. He lost the respect of many people who have went to the mat for him for many many years. He sold them out then laughed in their faces and dismissed them as knaves. He's earned the lack of respect he is getting.
Only thing I'm embarassed about is once thinking this guy wanted what was best for America.

Our POTUS is a man of class. A man who takes on big issues and who doesn't flip-flop because of polls.
No, he is criminally negligent in safeguarding our borders and population. He has dismantled much of what Congress and even Xlinton had done. He is derelict in homeland security, the most fundamental duty of any president worthy of the title Commander-In-Chief. He is also clearly not a man of his word as he has gutted the fence we got passed last year and he will undoubtedly continue to thumb his nose at the laws of our country instead of enforcing them as he swore to do as the head of our executive branch.
Many of you here saying all sorts of disrespectful (DEM attack type comments) have simply shown we have a segment of our base that is of the same ilk as the DEM left (your politics are just better 90% of the time).
We've been quite mild actually.
You should hang out on the DOSE threads. There, it's a sunshiny Bushworld where the flowers bloom and the birds sing every day.
The rest of us pursue conservative policies. And, as we just demonstrated, we block liberal and destructive policies from either party or when both parties combine against the general population.
Thanks again for not helping one iota.

Hey, Pres. From one of your former, brow-beaten defenders.
Congress didn’t fail to act on legal immigration. It refused to grant amnesty to ILLEGAL immigration.
As Rush said after the 06 elections, I’m glad I don’t have to carry water for these RINOs any longer. Talk about freedom.

"Unlike your detractors, you have class." ...and an unsecured southern border 5 years after your country was attacked. All the class in the world won't do a damn thing to secure our borders. You can keep the class, I prefer he do his damn job and secure our borders.

We are swimming with the little rascals here in Georgia, they have filled our Jails, Schools, and emergancy rooms. As their numbers grow they get bolder and bolder. Somebody has got to send them back home while we still have a county left. You should see the New Orleans area teeming with them now since Katrina. They are not going anywhere either. People on here that want to say we have no "class" for trashing Bush on this...just you wait until your community gets invaded by hordes of illegal Mexicans and see how you feel.

“The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws.”
So, Mr. President, maybe change the status quo and start enforcing the laws on the books and building the 854 mile fence you were required to do last year.

NRA’s right. Bush II is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
He’s better than, say, having your toe-nails pulled, then wading in the surf.
He’s better than waking up with Helen Thomas’s head resting on your arm, or one of Hillary’s cankles.
You’re right NRA, we’re pretty dam lucky to have him.

We’re not sorry. LOL....your humiliation on this issue is sweet music to my ears, Jorge.

I worked in Gainesville GA for a year and I found out that if you want to do business there, you had better speak Spanish and do all your deals in cash.
I hear that Dalton GA is "almost a complete Hispanic community" and that the mill bosses there "love their Mexicans" and frown on Georgians.
