Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.
No he wouldn't - Bush would have. Bush was the one championing it and the one responsible for reviving it.
It is apparent that you are someone that looks at the political parties as sports teams that you root for. You just refuse to acknowledge that some of the members of your "team" aren't what you thought they were.
My answer is that the flood gates are still open so the question is moot....
Really? Hmmm... just ignore him then. No reason to let someone rain on our victory parade for right now. Like I said, the war is far from over and we'll need to keep fighting for border security and enforcement, but we also need take a little time to appreciate every victory we get.
Have a nice day. Wouldn't want to spoil anyone's fun.
Actually might I recommend changing them to either "mentally challenged" or "mountain-dweller". You know, cause they're more PC.
;-)
Fortunately this one was a false alarm : the poster said it's just the janitor's union. I have a sneaking suspicion , though, that there may be some efforts to 'drum up" protests-we shall see if there are and if it works, over the next few days. I predict if they try this, they'll schedule major marches for July 4th, and try to present themselves as "ordinary immigrants-and if you disagree, that' makes you racist". If they do, it could very easily backfire.
I know, the guy is not really getting to me, I think he may be Jorge Bush by the way he is sounding.
Geesh, this isn't hard. Why is it just you that doesn't get it?
I will help you with it. The democratic party liked the legislation and why wouldn't they since it would create a permanent democratic majority. They weren't pushing it though - they were along for the ride.
The bill died two weeks ago because some renegade republicans (i.e. conservatives) wouldn't back the bill. Over those two weeks, Bush and the GOP senate leadership pressured them reconsider.
When enough pressure had been applied, the GOP notified Reid that it was safe to call for another vote.
Any questions?
So, Bush can push through legislation against the wishes of the majority party in congress: Are you serious?
I think that is a Very Distinct Possibility-I’ll be surprised if they don’t try something like that.

Actually, you might want to read Cedric's bizarre statements before jumping onboard.
THANKS for the list! Among Repub’s who voted YEA on this thing, we should also include Brownback and Voinovich, who voted YEA but changed to NAY when it became apparent the bill was going to die.
So it’s the Dirty Dozen plus two.

They do not have to be if the head of DHS was into doing his job at the border.
BUILD THE DAMNED FENCE, THEY HAVE THE MONEY FOR IT.
Actually, I live in the 'burbs so he's not really MY mayor, but...hee-hee, still delightful!
Geesh, are you being obtuse on purpose? The democrats liked the bill, they just weren't pushing it. The republican leadership loved the bill too, but the few conservatives in the senate did not.
The bill wasn't being held up by democrats but by conservative republicans. Bush, Lott, McCain and Kyl arm twisted the republican holdouts for two weeks until enough of them agreed to reconsider.
“today we showed that WE are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, where freedom exists because we are willing to fight for it”
That’s something that the 25,000,000 plus illegal aliens do not understand...

They need to get the illegals out, now.
Do you know how many of these guys are caught numerous times and walk because immigration can’t send someone to pick them up? So they tell them to turn em loose?
