Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.
Sorta like Mary Jo waited and waited and waited and waited for help, and paid and paid and paid and paid with her life.
Wonder if the “hiding in the shadows” masses will come out in protest today with their flags???
I will post anything I find out.
Sweet (your ltr to Boxer). May I borrow?
They are all blaming talk radio....
but when Bush goes to diff countries and they protest he says “they are practing “democracy”
But here its talk radios fault that the people spoke out...
what a hypocrite!!
ty!
Apparently, there was an article in the Red Star that said that Bush personally lobbied Coleman very hard and promised to get Coleman’s sacntuary cities amendment put on Reid’s approved list. I’m alarmed if that’s all it took for Coleman to vote Yes on Tuesday.
I’m not entirely comfortable with Coleman these days. He has really achieved the status of “insider” these days. There are times when that’s beneficial but there are also times when he shouldn’t be so quick to negotiate and sell away his positions just so he can get an amendment considered.
Like I said, he’s won only a temporary reprieve from me. I will be watching what he does.
No, it's not that. I'm really a racist.
;-)
I'm with you, kid. Everybody, let's do our own thing. But we still need to do the info pings so we can find out exactly WHAT would be acceptable WHERE. I don't mind being the info go-between...I'll do the pinging.
Seriously?
Dilios: He did not wish tribute, nor song, or monuments or poems of war and valor. His wish was simple. "Remember us" he said to me. That was his hope, should any free soul come across that place, in all the countless centuries yet to be. "May all our voices whisper to you from the ageless stones, "Go tell the Spartans, passerby, that here by Spartan law, we lie." And so my king died, and my brothers died; barely a year ago. Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory, but time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek, the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his 300, so far from home, laid down their lives... not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds. Now here on this ragged patch of earth called Plateaea, let his hordes face obliteration! Just there, the barbarians gather, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers, knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of 300. Yet they stare now across the plain at 10,000 Spartans commanding 30,000 free Greeks! Ho! The enemy outnumber us a paltry three to one! Good odds for any Greek. This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny, and usher in a future brighter than anything we could imagine. Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300! To victory!
The next morning (possibly September 28, but the exact date is unknown; the Hellenic Navy celebrates September 12 as Battle of Salamis Day), the Persians were exhausted from searching for the Greeks all night, but they sailed in to the straits anyway to attack the Greek fleet. When it became obvious to the Greeks that the battle was inevitable morale rose, the fleet enthusiastically took to sea and started singing the "paean"
Forward, sons of the Greeks,
Your children, your women, the altars of the gods of your fathers
And the graves of your forebears:
Now is the fight for everything.
Conservatives, we did it. We held OUR Congress accountable, against seemingly a unsurmountable invasion backed by those who attempt to control with wealth and greed. Let them know forever more, this is OUR country, OUR government. The only power they have is what we lend them. And today we showed that WE are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, where freedom exists because we are willing to fight for it.
Your looking for documentation of today’s vote?
Coleman voted against it today. I heard it, I saw it and see it now on cspam listed as a no vote.
Very sure he voted for cloture. If you want to spend the time to check that, go ahead.
A vote for cloture was a vote for it in this case.
There's a song parody in that quote methinks, to the tune of 'Over And Over' by The Dave Clark Five.
Some libs? The entire GOP leadership is liberal, including Bush, Lott and McCain.
The only difference between the RNC and the DNC at this point is that the RNC members are christian-socialists while the DNC is made up of secular-communists.
That's right, guys. Go ahead and shoot the messenger. Pity all the nation's enemies aren't as dang dumb as this lot...
Bush would be more shaken if he got in a room with 100 of his average voters from last election and actually asked them how they feel about his Presidency.
I live in Georgia. I know exactly what you mean. I love these people who have not dealt with this problem being all knowing -’at least something would be done’. yeah sure, they would all apply for food stamps and Peachcare. Georgia will be bankrupt eventually if this nonsense doesn’t end.
It’s undoubtedly too much to ask that two conservatives are elected. See tagline if you didn’t notice it before.
Both being from the south on the same ticket might not work to an advantage though, sorry to say.
(Personally, I love conservative southern gentlemen.)
Congratulations (at least I hope they will give up now).
Thanks for being on our side.
