For Barack Obama: “According to The Hill newspaper, there is talk in Congress by Iraq war opponents of pulling the troops out of Afghanistan. As one who opposed the Iraq war, would you consider pulling our troops out of Afghanistan if conditions remain the same there in 2009?”
Two for any candidate: “Russia and China have been working to establish military and economic relations in South America that run counter to American interests. Most notably, Russia is arming Venezualan dictator Hugo Chavez. Are you concerned and if so what would you do to preserve American interests in South America?”
“Ethanol. There are concerns that the increased use of ethanol will drive up food prices. Are you aware of those concerns and do you have any proposals to balance our needs for clean energy and cheap food?”
If the dems say the “bumper sticker” WOT, they lose with the green voters. If they say the cyclic increase in temperature which may or may not be to do humans and will not have any major effect for decades to come, they will lose with most rational Americans who realize the next 9/11 is around the corner.
Congress has spent many billions of dollars on Head Start, and some of the Democratic candidates have called for universal pre-school. Thinking only of the educational components of Head Start, do you see evidence that the billions of dollars spent have yielded benefits that justify continued expansion of it or similar programs, and if so, what are they?
They'll mention "so many" U.S. deaths in Iraq.
[Ask them specific questions about the number of American deaths in the Civil War and all other wars. Also quiz them on the number of peacetime deaths our forces suffered twenty years ago. If they fail to give a number as their answer, hold them to it. Ask them how many service people we lost during Clinton's presidency. Don't let them dodge, hold them to giving a NUMBER to all the numbers lost in each of these instances.]
Ask them specific, factual questions about the history of Iraq, Sunni vs. Shiite, Wahabbism in American mosques, CAIR vs. John Does, the Hezbollah smuggling ring broken up and reported by Robert Mueller last year, etc.
Followup to response: do these benefits last into adulthood, or are they transient—subject to what has been called fade-out?
Ask them, which program that subsidized failure or misconduct, ever actually solved a social problem?
Ask them how piling layers upon layers of bureaucracy in education made education more efficient, or more able to handle the unique, very individualistic entity that is the mind of a particular child?

“Mexican laborers are performing work on American soil, without organization, that would otherwise be performed by American union labor.
