My heart goes out to the soldiers. I know that they trusted our leaders like we all did. God is bringing to light alot of things, I just pray they don’t start another war without fixing the things we have done wrong. Securing the border is a start. If another terrorist event happens President Bush and Congress are responsible.

Bush is so pathetic....it really is sad. Even Nixon wasn’t as pathetic in his last days in office. But even worse.....far worse....it wasn’t really the left that brought Bush down like they did Nixon....it was Bush himself and his idiotic obsession with all things Mexico.

Resign Bush, its the only thing you can do at this point to save some dignity....well.....short of renouncing your open borders nonsense, vowing to veto the amnestyville horror, pardoning ramos, compean, and libby, and actually enforcing out current immigration laws.

Why are you proud of Hutchison? She would have voted for this treasonous bill if she had not been pounded by calls, faxes, etc. She still was on the edge until a few days ago. It never should have taken that for her to stand up and say no. You/we should be proud of ourselves for making her fearful of losing her job.
Keep a close eye on her she is soft on the illegal immigration issue.

Until employers are prosecuted, fined and jailed, there will be a steady flow of illegals for government subsidized cheap labor. Even if Bush doesn’t cave to Obama’s move to give employers a pass, which he will, it is just a matter of more legislation down the road while authorities turn their heads, and set policy by ignoring the law.

Seems to be exactly how he wants it.....no fines against employers....no enforcement at the border.

Do I believe him?

Well, in the sense I believe he intends anyone who crosses the border with or without permission from us to be “legal” from the minute their foot touches the ground...sure.

Looked at from that perspective of course there would never be another illegal. There would also be no borders and no United States.

Now if you mean do I believe he intends for a reduction of immigrants allowed into the country and no else to ever be granted leniacy again? No, I’d have to call him a liar on that intent. And given he’s gone sooon, it wouldn’t even be in his power to promise. It’s empty.

That's a fascinating graph. Where did you get it?

From that graph, it appears sanctions started going down a long time before Bush came into power. From 1997 to 2000 they went from 778 to 180. That's huge, but it's all during the Clinton years.

Not that it excuses Bush's treasonous dereliction of duty. Clinton's failures in no way excuse Bush's, which were even worse. Just three prosecutions in 2004! You've got to be kidding. But it makes me wonder whether there was something else going on here, not merely Dubya's indifference. There's got to be something behind that trend that began circa 1998 and continued into the Bush years. Was there some court decision that made it more difficult to prosecute employers? Was it some executive order that Clinton put in place that Dubya didn't rescind? Inquiring minds want to know.

What George forgot to mention in his radio broadcast is that when he pushes thru the North American Agreement, there will be no more illegals...There will be no more borders...

That image is found here.

Additional info, here:

Eleven to twelve million illegal immigrants currently reside in the United States thanks to this Administration's failure to secure our borders. The Bush Administration has refused to enforce the laws we have on the books and clearly did not make border security or immigration reform a priority until an election year. Last year, President Bush chose to only fund 210 extra Border Patrol agents after Congress authorized an additional 10,000 agents over five years. In addition, audits of employers who use illegals has declined from 8,000 under the Clinton Administration to 2,200 in 2003. In 2004, only THREE employers were fined for hiring illegal labor. This was down from 1999, when 417 businesses were fined. This failure is inexcusable. ...While the Bush Administration has neglected its duties, states and local government have borne the costs of cracking down on illegal immigration. This year, the President even proposed eliminating the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) which helps overburdened local municipalities deal with the costs of incarcerating illegals who commit crimes.

For up to 2003, here's a pdf file for the source:

There's also this article, The Declining Enforcement of Employer Sanctions , put out by Migration Information. I don't know who they are, what their agenda is, etc., but from a quick persusal, it speaks to "competing missions" since 1990's. Perhaps you can make heads or tails out of it...comparing it to the pdf file I posted to you....if you do that (lol), I'd be interested in your thoughts.

I just got home and haven’t read this thread yet- so forgive me if someone has already hit on my points.

This is what went wrong with Reagan’s amnesty- he had full intentions of shutting off illegal entries after amnesty.(I don’t believe this administration even has those intentions) Remember the $10,000 fine for hiring illegals and other strict legislation that was passed along with the amnesty? What happened is bleeding hearts and others felt the laws were too harsh so they were lightly enforced. Illegals kept coming in hopes of another amnesty and enforcement got lighter and lighter until it became meaningless under this administration.

This is exactly why so many that live on the border want to see a secure border and tougher enforcement BEFORE any consideration of amnesty or any other rewards for those that entered/will enter illegally. We ended up with 3 times the number of illegals being eligible for amnesty than predicted last time and no enforcement of laws on the books. That is what created this mess we have now, nope don’t need that again.

Fool me once...

AMERICA IS WILLING TO HELP THEM FIX THEIR HOMELANDS

I am NOT willing to help them fix their homelands- The U.S. has tried and tried to help fix Mexico over the years and as long as the elite are in power it will not work. The elite in Mexico could care less about the condition of their country or their citizens that live in poverty, they only care about how to get richer- and they are some of the wealthiest people in the world. Those that control Mexico only care about 1 thing- more money.

There is a perfect example of this near where I live. There is a highway in Mexico that goes within 3 or 4 miles of the U.S. border where it turns into a terrible 2 track dirt road. There is highway on the U.S. side. The county, state, and federal governement over the years has attempted several times to help Mexico pave that short piece of road. They have given them money, equipment, and manpower training. What happens every time is the project gets fired up and looks like progress- then the money and or equipment evaporates. That is the problem with "fixing" or "helping them fix" their country. Remember NAFTA was supposed to provide jobs and improve Mexico's economy and end illegals coming here. The only people that made money in Mexico as a result of NAFTA are- the elite.

The only way to fix Mexico at this point is to conquer and rebuild from the ground up. I don't see many supporting that. If there was no safety valve called Uncle Sam, there would have been a major revolution in Mexico years ago and possibly that would have worked, but we did not allow that to happen.
