Yes, that's the rub. And the answer, of course, is that he never wanted to act to protect us from this invasion.

He should consider listening to the voices who not only worked hard to get him elected twice but...he should consider how he is turning his back on all Americans and all of those who pray for him. REJECT AMNESTY!!!

Because there are others, without the Presidents involvement, that want open borders. It’s called the NAU...North American Union. Or...New World Order.

It was also in May that W appointed a war czar to take over the messes he has created in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as any other wars he might fancy between now and January 20, 2009.

The "war czar" position was laughable. I was under the impression that we already had such a position-- secretary of defense.

"Whip Inflation Now" buttons can't be far behind.

85% of the votes AGAINST the Immigration bill came from Republicans.

80% of the votes FOR the Immigration bill came from Democrats

Suppose you all could remember who the real enemy is ONE time instead of spending ALL your time fragging your own side?

And then you people spend year after year after year whining about how you cannot get anything done in politics! Gee no wonder why.

Why should people in DC do anything FOR any of you. All you even do is bitch and whine. Gee sorry nothing in life is 100% perfect. Not even in politics. Get over it.

Thanks Swinney. I don’t think he’ll retire in Mexico. Seems I remember Bush bought about 180,000 acres in Peru recently. does anyone know? Or can confirm? If true think he’ll go there when the $hit hits the fan. Just MHO, but I think it’s a given.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - In the past 10 years, new Mexican beach resorts have attracted a flood of American expatriates to retirement and second home communities.
Last year, the Dallas Morning News reported that more than 1 million Americans now live in Mexico, at least part time, five times the number of 10 years ago. The U.S. State Department reported in October 2004 that 385,000 live there year round. That number is almost certainly higher today.

“Mexico is a foreign setting with a familiar accent,” Bruce Greenberg, an appraiser/market consultant for Mexican real estate, who cites Mexico’s proximity and hospitality as two big draws for Americans.
Mexican beach resorts have another big factor going for them: weather. Winters are warm and summer heat is tempered by the waters of the Pacific, the Sea of Cortez, or the Caribbean. And, even though property prices in Mexico have increased, the costs of homes are still low. In addition, according to Greenberg, there are low property taxes averaging about $300 a year on property of $300,000 and low monthly costs.
What’s more, creature comforts of American life are increasingly becoming available south of the border. Satellite and cable television bring news and entertainment right into ex-pat’s living rooms, the Internet keeps them in touch with hometown newspapers, and American food brands are available at the supermarket.
There may even be a Wal-Mart not far away.
With so many migrants, however, resorts of choice are getting crowded, and other, even newer developments, are springing forth to take up the overflow.

Temporary workers ok, but no amnesty
Q: What should we do about the 8,000 people cross our borders illegally every day?
BUSH: We’re increasing the border security of the US. There ought to be a temporary worker card that allows a willing worker and a willing employer, so long as there’s not an American willing to do that job, to join up. I don’t believe we ought to have amnesty. I don’t think we ought to reward illegal behavior. There are plenty of people standing in line to become a citizen. If they want to become a citizen, they can stand in line, too. And here is where my opponent and I differ. In September 2003, he supported amnesty for illegal aliens.

KERRY: We need a guest-worker program. We need is to crack down on illegal hiring. And thirdly, we need an earned-legalization program for people who have been here for a long time, stayed out of trouble, got a job, paid their taxes, and their kids are American. We got to start moving them toward full citizenship, out of the shadows.

Interesting question for you all. A straight up strict Border Enforcement bill went to the US Senate in 2006. The Democrat filibustered it.

So since your dream bill doesn’t have the votes to pass. Are any of you willing to compromise on anything to get what you want on the border?

Cause this has been an odd debate.

For the last few years we heard a daily deluge of “DC got to do something about the Border or we are doomed”. So DC started doing some things and NOW “If DC does this we are doomed.”

So, what are any of you willing to compromise on to get some things done on this issue?

You don’t have the votes to pass only 100% of what you want into law. Listening to you, you will not accept anything less then 100% of what you want. At what point are you all going to realize that is a mutually exclusive position? You can have one or the other, you cannot have both. 100% of what you want, 0 of what you don’t want isn’t going to pass the Senate

So what is next? When this bill dies, what do you all do next? Other then bitch about everything endlessly again?

So, without all the usual histrionics, can some explain to me what you all want? Cause basically you are demanding action and refusing any action less then perfection which you don’t have the votes in DC to get.

Basically the end result is you all are maintaining the status quo. Which, as anyone who has read your posts to this board for the last few years, the status quo on the border is suppose to be “destroying the country”.

Frankly this whole debate has been rather surreal to watch.

The only people who have won anything are the illegals.

Cause now at least 2 more years will pass before this issue gets looked at again. This bill will die and no one in Congress is going to bring it up in an election year. Like every other serious topic, Congress will do everything it can to ignore this until after the elections now.

So maybe instead of just mindlessly screaming bile at everyone who doesn’t agree 100% with your personal Anti Illegal Immigration dogmas, maybe you all better start writing your own Immigration Reform bill and tell DC what you DO want.

Cause right now it seem that all you all really do want is just to be able sit around and bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch year after year after year.

It is high time the VP do his duty under the constitution and replace our sick President. He tried to do well but the job was obviously too much for him and now he is being led and not leading.

And those leading him are destroying America.
