You won’t respond to any further posts? How convenient.

Why not try and quit twisting people’s comments to fit your own prejudices?

No where did I say watching a stripper or going to a strip club makes a young male a man. I suggested that you try to pass a law against stripping since you find it so personally offensive. Go ahead, there will still be strippers and prostitutes. You certainly have a right to your opinion on this subject, however the thread topic is Mike Nifong and dirty DA’s.

I threw in that really tiny jab in response to your really tiny jab at Bobby Flay, and his supposed temper. I watch Food Network regularly, and he is one of my favorite chefs on that channel. Actually, I like all of them since they all have something unique to offer the viewer.

No, I don’t think we’d get along in real life. I avoid bitter people...(don’t even give me any of that “lady love” crapola)

You’re right. I should have ignored her, but I was still a little miffed regarding her piece on a TV Food Network program.

I know better now.

Well, he DID follow 16% of the ethics rules. Let's at least give him credit for that.

Why thank you!

Here it is again in David Evans, Sr.’s sworn testimony before the NC State Bar in today’s penalty phase of Nifong’s trial as live blogged by KC Johnson at http://durhamwonderland.blogspot.com/:

“First hears from his son on the 17th; got a call a little after 1pm—first thing he says is that he made a mistake, knows it, wants to describe the situation to him.

For next 10-14 days, Dave and other captains repeatedly apologize to Duke officials for hosting the party and hiring dancers; prepare written statement that accepts responsibility for the shame that it had brought on Duke and the families.”

Wow, only 3 years? But you must get a four year BA first right? I mean you just can`t go from high school to 3 year law school can you? I don`t know, I guess you could. Someone told me once anyone could walk off the street without any law schooling and take the bar and if they passed they would get a law license which I thought was pretty wild. Get the license, sue a bunch of hospitals, and next thing you know your taken seriously as a Presidential candidate.

"My manicurist did a horrible job! I must sue her!"

Yep. They took this “Success Story” off of their website the absolute minute Avery was arrested. Prior to that, Avery was their Poster Child for a wrongful conviction. (Avery HAD a rap sheet as long as his arm prior to this arrest. WHAT is the criteria they use to free the ‘wrongfully convicted?’ Can’t find THAT on their site, either.)

Funny. They NEVER track who re-offends after they ‘break them out of prison’ for the GOOD of Society. *SMIRK*

Thanks for putting up with my ‘bent nose’ on this subject. :)

“Shame that Janet Reno is on the board of directors of the innocence project.”

Oh. My. God.

If true, that explains a lot!

This would be a valuable statistic and I hope that the Innocence Project will post this. I think that the goal of this project is ultimately a good thing - freedom for people who've been jailed for crimes they didn't commit.

In the case you mention, I'd be interested in finding out if the law determined that the freed prisoner had, in fact, committed the original crime - I guess in some these cases, the prisoners are going to have criminal tendencies that will lead them to commit other crimes even if they didn't actually commit the original crime, and some are going to have been guilty of the original crime even though the Innocence Project is able to show that the DNA evidence wasn't enough to fairly convict them.

The majority of people are convicted, pre-DNA, by eye-witness testimony. Blame the prosecutor all you want, however, in the end it’s the jury who finds the party guilty that really is wrong....

Which is exactly why he accepted their DNA 'Contribution' (AND THEN HID THE RESULTS WHEN THEY REVEALED THAT THE BOYS WERE INNOCENT JUST LIKE THEY SAID THEY WERE ALL ALONG!!!

If that's not criminal behavior, it d**n well ought to be!

I still think most of those who were (and possibly still are) imprisoned unjustly were imprisoned because of an unethical prosecutor playing 'fast and loose' with the rules of evidence. I think Mike Nifong deserves the same sentence he was trying to give those boys (and I don't care if he winds up being someone's 'girlfriend' for 5 or 6 years!

Avery was later found innocent of the crime of rape that put him in prison in the first place for those 18 years. However, Avery had served time before for other crimes.

Either way, he was NO angel, and the only reason he was convicted of the rape that put him in prison was because his “buddy” who looked very much like him, (white guys with long blond hair, mid-twenties) actually committed the crime, but the victim fingered Avery because he was there, too. She picked Avery out of the line-up versus the guy that may have raped her, which was proven later through DNA evidence when the technology caught up to the crime. (The real “perp” was ALSO in prison for other crimes when the DNA evidence finally caught up with him via “The Innocence Project.” He was in for a long time anyway, so he confessed to that rape along with others.)

However, Avery “assisted” in the rape by whatever means and he WAS there when it happened and did not step up and say, “Dude! You can’t do that!”

Who knows? Maybe, in reality he had his fun too, but the DNA swipes from way back when got the other guy and NOT Avery. Those DNA swipes were fifteen years old for Pete’s Sake! You can’t tell me that two white boys from Wisconsin with blond hair and blue eyes don’t carry SOME sort of similar DNA material? It’s not a huge Gene Pool to draw upon around here.

It’s the company you keep.

And, as a side note, another thing that p*sses me off to NO END is that I, as a woman, am NOT allowed to carry a weapon of ANY kind on me when I leave my own property. Wisconsin is the last of two states (IL) that refuses to give us concealed carry.

Avery raped, tortured, killed and mutilated Theresa Halbach as she was going about her every day life as a photographer. She was there to photograph a junker car Avery wanted to sell through the local Shopper Rag. Had Theresa been armed with anything to fend off Avery and his nephew, she might still be alive today!

If I am caught with so much as a roll of quarters in an old sock, or an unregistered can of pepper spray to use to defend myself against these creeps, I’M the one that’s going to jail for having a weapon while the “Averys” of this world can roam at will and harm me as they see fit in ‘The People’s Republik of Wisconistan.’

It. Sucks.

I’ve been following this case closely and NEVER have I heard one word uttered that it was a dumb thing to do to hire strippers. Of course I could have missed it but I’m doubting you. Forgive me.

Sorry but you missed the first year of posts. That is not following the case closely.

Well how proud can you be of a kid that was involved with hiring strippers, yay specifically requesting BLACK strippers?

For someone closely following the case you are really out to lunch. They were called racist because they specifically did not want BLACK strippers. That may have been the whole problem in the first place.

My mission, and I’m not letting up oh no I’m not, is to keep pointing out that this demeaning of women should not be treated as a “boys will be boys” thing because it’s not

It would really, really help your mission if you knew what you were talking about. Going off on a rant without a clue is funny at best :)

I haven’t heard either any boy or their parents mention the wrongness in hiring strippers to come to a private party when hey, those boys were supposed to be in SCHOOL.

You are saying that they are supposed to be in school at Midnight? Are you implying that for participating in a perfectly legal activity that Nifong was justified in ruining the lives of a lot of people?

This whole debacle has been very demeaning to women. A womens false and malicious claims have done more to damage the cause of women than you will ever know. She proved that some women are worthless and should be treated that way. You as much as anyone should be going after her. It wasn't the boys that demeaned her it was Crystal who defamed all the good and virtuous women out there. That is why we are angry at her and her willing accomplice.
