Reid & Pelosi: Despicable
The two lousiest "leaders" in D.C. | 06/13/07 | Recovering_Democrat

Posted on 06/13/2007 6:00:00 PM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

I just was wrapping up my night and went to Drudge...his headling "Surge has failed" made me want to punch my monitor that depicted Harry Reid's snide, ignorant face.

First of all, have the surge has NOT failed...I don't even know if all the troops have been deployed yet.

Secondly, we were told there would be tough times because of the surge: we have been losing troops at an accelerated rate because of our increased engagement of the enemy. (Nothing like losing 300 a day, though--when Harry Reid's party was running their last war in Vietnam!)

Third, the troops in Iraq DON'T believe this crap or want to hear it. I have a nephew over there flying Black Hawks, and a church friend who is a colonel with a regiment.. They believe in the mission...and they're not alone.

I tell you, I hear griping about the Prez and immigration and he deserves a good bit of it...but holy cow, folks, just LOOK at the friggin' SURRENDER TO ISLAMICIST MONKEYS the Democrat party is producing...and these are fringe elements, no, this is their LEADERSHIP.

I think Reid and Pelosi are absolutely abmonidable...and to think she is second in line after Cheney to the White House.

I shudder.

We REALLY, really REALLY have to win at the ballot box next year folks, or present and future generations will suffer.

"...made me want to punch my monitor that depicted Harry Reid's snide, ignorant face. "

Betcha Harry never frequents any pub where someone could actually alter his face.

Top US congressional Democrats bluntly told President George W. Bush Wednesday that his Iraq troop "surge" policy was a failure. Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged the president over Iraq by sending him a letter, ahead of a White House meeting later on Wednesday. "As many had forseen, the escalation has failed to produce the intended results," the two leaders wrote.

Harry Reid: More Troops To Iraq!

This last Sunday, Harry Reid, the incoming Democratic majority leader in the U.S. Senate, went on ABC's Sunday morning show and declared that a hike in U.S. troops in Iraq is OK with him. Here's the evolution of the Democrats' war platform since Nov. 7, 2006, the day the voters presented a clear mandate: "End the war! Get out of Iraq!" and took the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives away from the Republicans.

So the Democrats recaptured both the Senate and the House and swiftly went to work — to obliterate the mandate. The first thing they did was reject Jack Murtha, the man who said "Quit Now" in 2005. They voted down Murtha as House majority leader and picked the pro-war Steny Hoyer. Then Nancy Pelosi, chose Silvestre Reyes as House Intelligence Committee chairman. Reyes promptly told Newsweek, "We're not going to have stability in Iraq until we eliminate those militias, those private armies. We have to consider the need for additional troops to be in Iraq, to take out the militias and stabilize Iraq … I would say 20,000 to 30,000 — for the specific purpose of making sure those militias are dismantled, working in concert with the Iraqi military."

MR. RUSSERT: Would you send more American troops in order to stabilize the situation?
REP. PELOSI: Yes.

Well said - such ignorance, arrogance and obvious conniving in these two ... every time I think they have hit bottom they amaze me with how much deeper they can go.

I often thought last fall if I could have a buck for every person who said...

“they wouldn’t vote or the Republicans deserve to lose”

I’d be off on a world tour, thanks to the Freepers who gave up.

What do you mean by messed up? Since when does war stick to a predictable set of events? What has been messed up is the myopic coverage by our treasonous media. What is reprehensible is the fact that more Americans are killed daily within the US than are killed in Iraq. Where is the balance here? No I do not think Bush has “messed up” in Iraq. I believe it is our treasonous media and the seditious Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Gore, Kerry, and all the other lefty moonbats that are screwing the pooch. Nuff said!

I’m with you R_D. With my son, my nephew, my niece, and a cousin presently in Iraq (and another nephew who could be sent back for another tour) the crap that flys out of Reid and Pelosi’s mouths makes me want to puke every time I hear them. I’d like to see someone place ball gags in both their mouths. It’s past time these traitorist self-aggrandizing anti-American pro-terrorist idiots are arrested and tried, and then executed for high crimes against their own nation during a time of war.

Wrong. Saddam Hussein is gone—permanently. Good. We’re doing counterinsurgency warfare fairly well, but even if we could eliminate the sources of support for the terrorists (the Islamic Republic of Iran, Syrian Arab Republic, and others), victory still will require several years. We must convert the Iraqi people to our side and slowly and steadily reduce the number and popular support for the opposition. The American Revolution raged for eight years. We fought the Philippine Insurrection for fifteen years. Almost none in the media and even few Republicans seem to understand the time required to defeat the enemy.

Let us count the signs that we’re winning. Our side seems to dominate the countryside, and local leaders even in heretofore intransigent Anbar province are joining our side. But we cannot win in Iraq without defeating the enemy, and we politically cannot attack the self-proclaimed invincible superpower who we oppose—the Islamic Republic of Iran. We apparently still might get more efficient at identifying and eliminating the enemy after said enemy infiltrates the borders as porous as our southwestern frontier.

Victory is a difficult proposition that will require the entirety of both quadrennial terms of the next President and quite possibly some of his successor to achieve. Think 2019 as a goal here and work every day toward that goal. Keep reducing the population of Islamofascist terrorists still alive. Our present policy surely beats that of a certain ex-president rightly derided as the “sex offender in chief” for his misplaced priorities. We managed to nail 27 terrorists during both his quadrennia. We now kill more terrorists practically every day than Clinton managed to remove from the theater of combat during his entire Presidency as al-Qaeda trained tens of thousands of terrorists.

When it becomes politic to do so, we can engage this war toward victory. But until that time arrives, we should aim to enhance our positions and continue to kill whichever part of the enemy is politic to kill.

How the hell do you win a war when the enemy controls your own political process and governance? It’s pretty amazing that we’ve done as well as we have and not fallen from our internal divisions and strife. This biennium will try men’s souls. ...

Are you pehaps inferring someone’s (sleeper) daily lapel flower is a pansy?

Actually we need the FDR0Truman/Ike/Patton/Mays mentality in Iraq & Afghanistan
