This is exactly mean, petty, and extremely partisan crap you can expect out of the local governments in S. Florida. This is like all the frivolous code violation citations written against homeowners who displayed republican yard signs before the 2004 election.

Liberals hate it when the light is upon them and the truth is exposed. That is why they don’t like Rush Limbaugh and why Rush Limbaugh continues to enjoy excellent ratings.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics. My way or the highway, eh Commissioner?
Of course it's President Bush who has taken away all of our freedoms, or so I'm told by the Commissioner's fellow travelers.

"Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics."So, just like NOLA, public safety is not a priority when it interferes with the liberal agenda...

I agree its completely wrong, but think about this. If it was a local radio station that was located in a staunch Republican area that carried Air America and all the ultra liberal programming out there, would people feel the same if the local Republican government did the same thing?
To be honest I d@mn well wouldn’t tune into that station to have to wait to listen for emergency news between hours of nothing but Bush and Republican bashing, a lot of liberals feel the same way with Rush. I don’t agree with them, but put yourselves in their shoes.

The deal with WIOD would ensure that news conferences are broadcast start to finish live from the county Emergency Operations Center in Plantation. Emergency managers became concerned during hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 that radio and television stations preempted their announcements in favor of news out of MiamiHow will this guarantee that next time it will be any different?
To: Patriot28
Petty politics over safety.
To: Patriot28
Democrats putting ideological purity ahead of saving lives. WIOD has the strongest radio signal in the area and is the most capable of serving the needs of the public.

If these hacks would actually listen to Rush they’d know he’s up to date on the latest hurricaine info and enjoys talking about it. But noooooooooooo, they’d rather listen to Randi Rhoades tell them how all hurricane’s are Bush’s fault. Seems to me they’d want the station with the greatest listenership to also be the one with the most hurricane info. Idiots.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics. Ritter, a Democratic stalwart in the state Legislature before being elected to county office, cited talk shows hosted by Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and WIOD's partnership with Fox News.
At least she's being honest, usually they come out with some BS that the station supports racism or some other bogus excuse.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics. It's beyond petty. It's chilling. Granted, it's a small time crank, but it demonstrates a mindset on the left that leads to authoritarianism.

I’ll bet they demand an Air America station be the only one to carry storm news. That would lead to millions being zapped during the next hurricane.
