The party will either go into the 21st century and win elections, or it will refuse to modernize and continue to lose. I hope party leaders have the foresight to realize that opposing modernity is a losing strategy.

Go with the consensus. If it’s phlogiston, it’s phlogiston.

Yeah, but the way they put the question, made me, a devoted amateur scientist, wonder as well.

“do you think that humans evolved from slime mold, billions of years ago?” (paraphrased, but you get the idea).

I don’t believe that evolution weakens true faith, or what my heart knows to be true.
However, a question like that kinda makes ya think about just what is more fantastic to believe.

Yeah, they should buy into watered-down 21st century morality. Yeah, throw in with the declining morality. Just go with the flow...

Sarcasm off.

Independents are just Democrats who use their ‘neutral’ or ‘undecided’ position to try to get conservatives to compromise on their positions.

The only reliable conclusion is the c.20% who thought humans developed over millions of years after being created less than 10,000 years ago were really, really confised.

14% point to a supposed lack of scientific evidence as their reason for rejecting evolution. Almost all of the rest point to religious motivations. Yes, this is all about the science all right!

In other words, you are suggesting that the party compromise what they believe is important in order to win races. I would rather lose races than compromise my beliefs. Those that want to compromise can be demorats, the party of flip flops.

I believe that if Evolution exists, then God created it.
And for those who don't believe in God, you better be right.

Amen.

I hope party leaders have the foresight to realize that opposing modernity is a losing strategy.

When William F. Buckley founded the National Review - helping to lend coherence and power to the nascent conservative movement - he said that the goal of his new publication was to "stand athwart the gates of history crying 'Stop!'"

Conforming to modernist nostrums is a losing strategy: ask the Rockefeller Republicans.

What a great post, is sure to bring the weevils clambering to the top of the barrel.

I'll have to bookmark it for future reference under "These are not worth responding to".

Otherwise, no comment, I know what I believe in.

Particularly interesting is the graph equating evolution denial with church attendance. It shows that there are a lot of false prophets out there brainwashing their congregations with dismal ignorance about fundamental grade school biology. It’s a real shame that so many people who are intelligent enough to dismiss the disease of liberalism will blindly drink the kool-aid when being lied to by anti-science hucksters pretending to know the Lord.

But even among non-Republicans there appears to be a significant
minority who doubt that evolution adequately explains where humans
came from.

Frank Newport (author of this Gallup press-release) must be a
J-School grad.

Because only a J-School grad would TOTALLY miss the headline in
this story.

How on Earth could about two-fifths of Democrats and a fair number
of independents still be Evolution-Deniers?

Most Republicans don't believe in evolution?
Heck, that's "dog bites man".

Democrats and independents not believing in evolution?
That's "man bites dog"!!!
