Jimmy Carter no longer the worst U.S. president.
6/8/07 | Joe Lynch

Posted on 06/08/2007 8:10:00 AM PDT by westcoastwillieg

Jimmy Carter is no longer the worst U.S. president. Carter only gave away the Panama Canal; Globalist Bush is giving away our sovereignty, our language, our jobs, our social security plus he wants to give amnesty to 12-20 million illegal aliens who broke our laws.

While the number of illegal aliens within our borders is not known with any precision, most estimates range from 12 to 20 million. Unfortunately these are only ‘guesstimates’ no one actually knows how many there are. Some claim it could be 30 million or higher. If each amnestied illegal only brings in four dependents, our population will increase anywhere from 48 to 120 million and perhaps more.

Bush claims he wants immigrants to learn English yet refuses to rescind Executive Order 13166. This order is an unfunded mandate that directs any entity that receives federal funds to provide services in ANY foreign language. With a stroke of his pen, W could rescind E.O. 13166.

Bush speaks with a forked tongue and is only giving lip service to securing our borders. When discussing border security the president sounds like a hawk but actually prevented any meaningful border enforcement for five years. It’s a national disgrace that the president has done next to nothing to secure our borders; by his incompetence, he has placed the entire nation at risk. It‘s time to put the impeachment machinery in gear.

I need to defend Bush on one front here, the spending bills.
All spending bills originate in the House. Unfortunately the President does not have line item veto. If you go back to a LOT of the spending bills we complain about, the pork has been attached to vital bills. To veto a vital spending bill means that a lot of military and defense spending would be on hold while the bills were re-worked.

Now, I’m not giving President Bush a pass in knowing IF he had line item veto, if he would use it, but without it, who is to say any of us would not have signed those either risking the more important pieces of the bill.

Ono mas item.. for those who are complaining he ‘cut’ some important areas, look up the term ‘baseline budgeting’. In Washington DC economics, if you reduce the rate of growth from 10% to 5%, that is called a 5% cut in funding even though year over year, the funding still rises 5%.

Yes his backing the shamnesty bill sucks, especially how he is attacking our side for it.. BUT, as Shaq said about the President, if you don’t stand for a day in a man’s shoes, how can you criticize.

Thanks! I forget to mention anything about the millions of jobs that have been outsourced under his watch, or the unconstitutional trade agreements he's signed, all in the name of globalism. Those trade agreements have put a lot of little Mexican farmers out of business and they have had to come to the US looking for jobs. I didn't mention his pursuit to erase our borders with Canada and Mexico, making us the "Americas!" Add all of that to things I may have forgotten, or things we don't know about yet, and he's definitely a candidate for worst President.

You are dead wrong. President Bush is one of the best presidents our country has ever had. He has been a strong war time president, and he knows that high taxes are bad for our country. He was just misstaken on this immigration bill, just like Prsident Ronald Reagen was in 1986. You have forgotten about the damage Jimmy Carter did to this country, like allowing Iran to fall into the hands of radical Islamic fanatics. The Democrats love to hear conservatives attack our President because that divides Republicans aginst President Bush. So you are helping the Democrats with your outrageous remarks.

You win your argument he is better than the hapless carter; you go into the ditch with everything else. Immigration was not that huge an issue during Reagan’s time, and the Congress was solidly in the rat’s paws until the 1990’s. The stature of RR has towered over all subsequent WH residents.

“Carter only gave away the Panama Canal”

No, Carter toppled the Shah of Iran, and gave us UP TO THE PRESENT an Iran with terrorist ambitions.
Try to top that troll.
I DARE you.

Maybe the “President Who Has Made The Biggest Gaffe” title has now been seized from Carter.

“Hoover was not that bad. He did not cause the Great Depression, because a president does NOT control the ecomomy.”

So blaming Carter for gas lines, inflation and unemployment is also unfounded? I know you said nothing of the sort, but I’m curious on this issue. Mainly, I think, because there seems to be a purposeful discrepency in how posters view Carter’s years versus other presidents.

Carter was a rancid president on many fronts... He was a diplomatic disaster first and foremost. But is it fair to blame him for the economy? I’m asking out of honest curiosity.

NO WAY carter failures can even be touched. (not even by b.clinton)

Since you are the first to mention bubba clintoon here, I have to respond.

Whatever Carter did, Reagan undid, and quite easily and quickly.

Clinton set this country back so far we are still trying to recover.

Carter was simply inept. Clinton was evil.
