Tonight's cloture motion has just gone down to defeat. No where near the 60 yea votes needed to cut off debate.

Harry now pontificating on Senate floor.

All they understand is $. Tell them they won’t get any.

Eh, even THAT doesn't work. They've got money coming out the wazoo from "special interest groups". Actually, we DID manage to bug the crap out of Feinstein with about 20,000 calls in a week and a half.

That was fun! :-)

BREAKING NEWS (Second) Immigration Bill Cloture Motion Fails 45-50

Looks like only 50 Senators have actually read the document.

Unfortunately, the bill could come back at a later date, so we may still see a repeat of the 1965 Kennedy Kalamity.

If it’ssuch a great thing for the US.....why is it that Shrub, Fox and Harper only discuss it behind closed doors?

Inquiring minds want to know....LOL

When Kissinger recently discussed it, he referred to it as NAU. Go figure.

I don’t know about what we can say to those out and out beyond hope... That’s how I feel about the CD7 and 8 congressional reps: Grijalva and his best pal Giffords. Both Viva La Raza, socialist, Mexico is better than America types.

I’ll personally never forgive Kyl. I already didn’t trust him and didn’t vote for him last time (voted 3rd party), and I think all he cares about now is his upcoming federal judgeship.

We could do a lot worse (and probably will) than to elect Jeff Sessions President of the United States. Every time I got confused on these motions, I looked to see how Senator Sessions voted to find the right side.

No, it doesn't surprise me that ole Harry is lying. LOL

What's sad about it is that all the moonbats are going to believe every lying word coming out of his mouth.

From a theory put out by a substitute for the Dennis Prager Show (can't remember the name), Bush thinks the future lies in these great international coalitions, like the EU. He doesn't think that the United States will be able to compete with the EU, or China, unless we instead create a super-entity (The North American Union). He wants to get this done as early as possible so the United States can have the dominate position in this union.

But like I said, this was just one guy speculating.

As surely as Sonny Corleone was left for dead at that toll plaza, McCain-Kennedy will not become law in anything like its current form. Even the author of the grand compromise, John Kyl, voted against cloture. As far as John Kyl is concerned, I think we have enough good stuff in the bank to get through this little episode. The fact that he voted the right way tonight means he can remain our favorite Senator. He’s certainly in no danger of having Trent Lott steal his place in our hearts.

And what is the media reward to the Republican Party for this insanely misguided misadventure? MSNCB.com now leads with the headline, “Bush-backed immigration bill stalls in Senate.” Thank you Senator McCain for so courageously once again reaching across the aisle and getting your party yet another stick in the eye.

As far as the putative Republican crack-up is concerned, allow me to offer a dissenting theory. I have never seen the Republican Party more united than in its hatred for this bill. On one side you have George Bush, Lindsey Graham, Trent Lott and John McCain. On the other side, you have virtually every other Republican in America save the Wall Street Journal editorial board. 30 million people united against roughly 13 individuals - when you think about it, that’s pretty good unity.

And there’s even better news. The Democratic nominee for president will likely be a Senator who hasn’t done a blessed thing to secure the border during her/his time in office. And best of all, the Republican nominee will definitely not be a Senator.

“OK people,we’ve got a little time, however we’ve still got the D’craps in majority,a bunch of untrust worthy RINO’s and a Preisedent who reeeeeeeeally wants to get this immigration bill shoved down our throats. So now we’ve got to push for a guy in the White House we can trust as the LAST defense against RINO’s and D’craps or sooner or later they’ll get their way !!!”

Correct. Now that we have more time we have to make the most of it, but CONTINUING TO EXPOSE THE FARCE OF “COMPREHENSIVE” IMMIGRATION. We can do this by sending letters to the editor in the media, keep pressuring congress, continuing to push for a better solution.

It is not dead yet. After the vote both McConnell and Reid on the floor of the Senate pledged to rework the bill to bring it back again.
