Published Thursday | June 7, 2007 Jon Bruning officially enters Senate race BY ROBYNN TYSVER WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

It's official: Jon Bruning entered the 2008 Senate race today.

Jon Bruning announcing his run for the Senate in the rotunda of the State Capitol. The second-term Nebraska attorney general said he will run for Senate whether fellow Republican and incumbent Sen. Chuck Hagel runs or not.

"I am a candidate without reservations," Bruning said at a news conference in Lincoln today. "I'm running hard and I'm running to win."

Hagel, who has angered many rank-and-file party members with his criticism of the Iraq war, has not announced whether he will run for a third term. He plans to make his decision in the fall.

Bruning said he is disappointed in Hagel's vote for early troop withdrawal from Iraq and Hagel's support of President Bush's immigration bill.

Bruning said he believes he can beat Hagel and former Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns if either get into the race. He tried to paint Hagel as an out-of-touch Washington lawmaker who is not a Nebraskan.

He referred to Hagel - who currently lives in Virginia - as a carpetbagger. Bruning said that if former Sen. Bob Kerrey got into the race he would also portray him as a carpetbagger.

Bruning noted that his supporters include former Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne, Omaha businessman David Sokol and state Treasurer Shane Osborn.

Bruning made his announcement with family and about 75 supporters in the rotunda of the State Capitol.

Well its almost like RI: If you were a Republican there would you have supported Laffey over Chafee, knowing that one is (only) slightly more conservative than the other, but the one in office is a far-left liberal with an (R) next to their name! I sure would have. Of course thankfully I live in the south.

I hear what you are saying. Who knows want 08 will bring.
I think most conservatives, as well as Reagan democrats have had enough of this abomination of conservative values, regardless of party.

As a Conservative movement, we ought to try to take over as many small states as possible. Remove about a half-million of us from a state like Georgia and move them to RI, and we could take it over. Ditto with the other smaller N.E. states. Return them all to their original Republican roots. ;-D

Well there are two well known examples of movements of that type that individuals are trying that I know of 1 is the Free State Project (moving libertarian individuals to NH), and the other is the Christian Exodus Project moving Biblical Christians to South Carolina: I favor the second though I am not offically a part of it since I recently moved from IN to SC. Though I have spent a time in both states. NH was great till it got overran by liberals and the legislature dominated by far-left-liberal Democrats.

South Carolina is solid for us, so we don’t need to move anymore in there. NH only went full-moonbat in the last election (and we shall see if they go back to normalcy again next year — the rodents have never held a majority of seats there for longer than a 2 year span since the 19th century).

I am tempted to move to Nebraska so I can vote against Hagel.

Why do you have to live there to vote there? Oh, never mind, wrong party.
