O'Donnell Will Not Be Back on 'The View'
ABC NEWS ^ | staff

The saga is over.

Rosie O'Donnell will not be returning to "The View."

In a statement today, Brian Frons, the president of Disney-ABC's Daytime Television Group, said, "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."

Barbara Walters, the show's creator and co-executive producer, said, "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

In her statement, O'Donnell said, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

And on her Web site Thursday, O'Donnell wrote: "When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done."

O'Donnell announced at the end of April she was leaving "The View," and her last day was supposed to be June 20.

Rosie made MSN a few weeks ago for saying it was because of “her being on the show” that the View one the daytime tv award.

She told Barbara Walters across the table that if The View wins the Daytime Emmy for best talk show, that all thanks should go to Barbara...for hiring her. It was an outrageous display of arrogance.

"As much as I love Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she’s an intellectual lightweight, and not a good representative of the conservative cause."

LOL, what is not to like?

I would, too, but she is too good for the show, and her focus is too narrow. Sure, they want politics and sparks flying, but they also want to talk about a lot of mindless TV and pop culture junk that Ann clearly has no interest in.

"Hopefully this is not what stay at home moms are watching. I can’t figure out WHO watches this program!"

My wife has two friends who are stay at home Moms and they both watch that show every day. They are both conservative and their husbands are conservative.

I don't understand it either. I've even asked them how they can watch all those idiot liberal women with their anti-conservative attitudes and they really have no explanation either.

But neither of them could stand that gasbag Rosie.

Well, well done Sir! Is it a double breasted or triple button, British full cut or American flap? Is the fabric summer wool, cashmere or a blend? Hope it was purchased on a real good sale :)

I have a cream coloured (termed ice cream suit) Burberry blazer with ultra-faint pin stripes, for summer, all silk.

Said she ate tons of wedding cake at his wedding which grossed him out.

Please. Donald if you were paying Rosie any mind at your wedding then I have lost whatever respect I have of you. During my wedding, I can hardly remember seeing people much less who ate what. I was consentrating on my beautiful wife. If someone ate the entire cake by themselves I would not have known about it. I think Donald was exaggerating on this point.

If she could have her view and be gracious, who would make fun of her? Not many. But she is angry, abusive and intolerant. How can she expect anyone to cover for her wild accusations that even she cannot begin to defend?

Watching that ditz Behar, it’s hard to believe that she makes somewhere between $200 and $300 an hour.

More like 3000 dollars an hour. 300 dollars X 365 equals about 100,000 dollars and of course she is not working 365 days but I used that anyway. She makes over a million dollars so it is more like 3000 dollars an hour. I understand that they get in around 0730 for a 0900 taping and are out for the day by 1100 or noon. I did not give them extra hours. I just based it on the one hour of taping a day.

I think she makes a great spokesperson for her political views. How well prepared does she have to be to argue with Rosie or Joy Behar?

It's not a show that is highly regaraded for it's political analysis. There's a decent size audience of mostly women who enjoy the format of four women with varying viewpoints discussing their opinions. In that format, Elisabeth does pretty well.

When she's applied herself in the past, she has performed well. From softball to Survivor I think she shows she is more than just some dumb blonde.

I don't know if she should be expected to be a spokesperson for conservatives or Republicans. Many conservatives/Republicans hold a view or two contrary to their groups popular standpoint. She makes a great spokesperson, but if I don't agree with her I don't agree with her.

I think the View should give her Rosies seat. She's got a shot at a nice career with her looks and personality. She could walk into a gig with Regis, GMA, Fox and Friends, her own show. I think when this girl applies herself, she does pretty darn well.

I don’t believe you are called to be fond of her, as a Christian. Yegad, the woman spews spittle from the Pit. You might be called to pray for her.
