We need to focus a grassroots effort on forming a national fuel recipe to eliminate the 40+ boutique fuels that are bottlenecking refinery capacity because our foolish Republican leaders lack leadership.

If gas prices stay this high next year, ALL incumbents should be voted out of office and should be replaced with congressmen who will drill for oil and gas in federal waters and ANWAR which are, after all owned by ALL the people of the US. That FL and CA senators should keep the rest of the country from accessing oil and gas off their coasts, when those states do not own those waters, is crazy. That enviro-nazis should have more influence in Congress than the rest of the population, who have the jobs that produce the wealth of this country, is obscene.

You want to stop gouging....mandate that any public official elected to the house, senate or as President, neither he or anyone in his family can own stocks affiliated with the oil and energy industries. My guess is after that conflict is removed you may see drilling and real investigations into the industry on market manipulations. Until then, they will give lip service and reap the profits on their stocks...No conflict there.

Everytime government gets involved, it’s bad for consumers.

Yeah, that’s gonna help a lot. Typical of these do-nothing, anything for a meaningless headline fat cats. We must never elect another incumbent to the congress.

If service stations making a dime a gallon and oil companies making a dime a gallon is “price gouging”;
what do you call it when gas taxes amounting to close to a DOLLAR A GALLON in many states is called? LOL

"Gouging" does not mean a new record-high price has been hit. (Otherwise, the price of every new model year of your favorite vehicle would be "gouging".)

"Gouging" is when a short-term crisis leads to overwhelming price increases (usually 10-100 times the value the week before), and that price increase will be reversed when the crisis disappears. It's when flashlights go for $50, batteries for $20, potable water goes for $25 per gallon, and bread is $15 per loaf when a category-5 hurricane is coming to town, or a snowstorm will put your county out of contact with the rest of the world for 2 weeks. It's not when a common commodity has a price that politicians can exploit for their own personal gain. (That's called a "weekday".)

This bill is all bark and no bite, and will do nothing to lower gas prices," said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner

He was better when he said what he said yesterday. Just because the MSM wouldn't carry that soundbite is no reason to back down.

70’s price controls are back. Can another Carter presidency be next?
