You want to stop gouging....mandate that any public official elected to the house, senate or as President, neither he or anyone in his family can own stocks affiliated with the oil and energy industries. My guess is after that conflict is removed you may see drilling and real investigations into the industry on market manipulations. Until then, they will give lip service and reap the profits on their stocks...No conflict there.

You want to stop gasoline price gouging? First, prove it exists.

Fabulous! How about this idea?

We REQUIRE every citizen to buy oil and gas stock (or royalty trusts, etc) with 0.5% of their gross income a year. That way everybody wins.

You might as well mandate that they own no stock in anything, since what they do affects everybody.

My guess is after that conflict is removed you may see drilling and real investigations into the industry on market manipulations.

To say that the oil industry manipulates the price of oil is like saying farmers manipulate the price of wheat.
