The barn swallows are small songbirds, with a split tail, very agile in flight, and just about the size of a wren.
What they lack in size, they make up for in sheer aggression. especially when it comes to defending their young.
I think if the Osprey and other raptors were that aggressive, they would have been hunted down as dangerous to humans (especially the ones meddling with their nests).

uh.o I said barn owls..I think..I do know what barn swallows are. Believe or not they built their nests in a covered walkway at a small hospital where my dad spent some time..
I used to go out and watch them when I visited.
Mockingbirds are very protective,too. I’ve seen 2 go after a hapless crow..again and again.
I have to drive to see hawks along the roadside or near my daughter’s house..I have no raptors in my neighborhood but I have great birdwatching almost year around while sitting at my computer. I have cardinals, house finches, titmice,chickadees and white winged doves year round.feeding on my patio.I see red bellied woodpeckers, Carolina wrens, mockingbirds, blue jays and crows at times..and had robins and cedar waxwings this winter.
I love birds!
