Elegizing the Commander of the Martyrdom-Seekers

In the name of Allah, and all praise is due to Allah, and may peace and prayers be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family, companions, and allies.
Muslim brothers everywhere: peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
I announce to you today the passing of a hero among the heroes of Jihad in this era and a knight among its knights, Haji Mulla Dadullah Akhund, may Allah bestow His all-encompassing mercy on him and house him in His spacious Gardens with the Prophets, truthful ones, martyrs and righteous ones, and what fine companions those are.
The Crusader forces and their agents, the Afghan intelligence and armed forces, came together against him in Helmand province and besieged his position with a large force. He engaged them, then broke out of the siege. They besieged his second position, but he engaged them and broke out of the siege. Then they besieged his third position, and resorted to heavy bombing, and he, his blood brother and some of his brothers were martyred – may Allah bestow His all-encompassing mercy on them and reward them on behalf of Islam and Muslims with the best reward.
Father of a courageous one, father of all courageous
The terrors of battles have made him a terror
It is as if your soul is not happy with you as its companion
Unless you are more generous than the generous
And does not consider you protective of it
Until you sacrifice for it in fright
Were it not for the difficulty, all people would have been chiefs
But generosity impoverishes and bravery kills
The commander of the martyrdom-seekers has passed on to his Lord a martyr, as we consider him, having prepared, equipped and left behind him hundreds of martyrdom-seekers who impatiently await the order to swoop down on the Crusaders and their helpers in desire of what Allah has. The commander of the martyrdom-seekers has passed on to his Lord a martyr, as we consider him, having threatened the Americans and saying to them, “If you have atomic bombs, we have the martyrdom-seekers.”
Those who sacrifice their souls for their Prophet
On the day of turmoil and domination of the strong
And those who look with reddened eyes
Like coals, but whose sight is not tired
As if they are offering a sacrifice, they purify themselves
With the blood of those infidels who attack them
The commander of the martyrdom-seekers has passed on to his Lord a martyr, as we consider him, as he was in the midst of his troops leading the campaign of attack against the Crusaders and their helpers to cleanse the soil of Afghanistan from their filth. And his martyrdom has come to pour fuel on the fire of rage blazing in the hearts of his troops against the Crusaders and their helpers.
So no peace until horses trip over spears
And skulls are struck by white swords
And no security until the war oppressors publicly
Ubaydah one day, and wars are oppressors
And if the martyrdom of the Amir of the martyrdom-seekers, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (may Allah have mercy on him) was the beginning of the massive breakdown of the Americans in Iraq, the martyrdom of the commander of the martyrdom-seekers, Mulla Dadullah (may Allah have mercy on him), shall break the back of the Crusaders and their helpers in Afghanistan and hasten their imminent defeat, with the permission of Allah.
Therefore, I say to our Amir, the Amir of the Believers Mulla Muhammad Umar (may Allah protect him): be patient and seek your reward, for the martyrdom of your brother Dadullah, even if severe for the Muslims, is a good omen of victory, Allah willing.
Ikrimah bin Abu Jahl (with whom Allah was pleased) fought along with 400 Muslim notables – after they agreed with each other to die – in front of the tent of Khalid bin al-Walid (with whom Allah was pleased) when war broke out between the Muslims and Romans at al-Yarmuk. And when the battle intensified, Ikrimah bin Abu Jahl (with whom Allah was pleased) alighted from his steed, to fight to the death. Khalid bin al-Walid (with whom Allah was pleased) told him, “Don’t do this, for your killing would be severe for the Muslims.” He replied, “Let me be, Khalid, for you had a precedent with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), whereas I and my father were among the severest of people against the Messenger of Allah.” So he (with whom Allah was pleased) went forth until he was killed, and then came the conquest and victory by the grace of Allah and His mercy.
And know, oh Amir of the Believers, that your troops, the Emigrants and Helpers, have made a covenant with Allah to fight to the death until Allah grants them victory or takes them as martyrs. We ask Allah to make us and them steadfast in that.
I stayed behind, seeking to stay alive, but I didn’t find
For myself a life like the attack
And it is not on our heels that our wounds bleed
But it is on our feet that blood drips
So oh Ummah of Islam, and oh seekers of knowledge, and oh groups of Jihad, and oh battalions of martyrdom-seeking: here is the commander of the martyrdom-seekers Mulla Dadullah, leaving the circles of knowledge and immersing himself in the battles of Jihad, and losing his leg and his body becoming full of shrapnel and wounds, but continuing to move from one battle to another, fighting the Russians, apostates and Americans, until Allah honored him with martyrdom while he was patiently seeking his reward. So don’t depart from his path, and continue his march, and be among the patient reward-seekers, for victory is in an hour of patience. The Truth, Blessed and Exalted is He, says, “O you who believe! Persevere in patience and constancy; vie [with one another] in such perseverance; strengthen each other; and fear Allah, that you may prosper.” (3:200)
And our final prayer is that all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and prayers be on our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.

Bin Laden ‘ordered Zarqawi’ to attack US

A senior US official says Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden told the group’s Iraq head Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi to plan attacks inside the United States, before Zarqawi was killed in a US air strike last year.
Frances Townsend, President George W Bush’s homeland security advisor, offered information from recently declassified secret reports to defend the US argument that it is fighting to prevent Iraq from becoming a new “sanctuary” for Al Qaeda.
“The intelligence community tells us that in January of 05 (2005) bin Laden tasked Zarqawi, who has been in Iraq, to form a cell to conduct attacks outside Iraq, and then frankly America should be his number one priority,” she said.
“We know from the intelligence community that Zarqawi welcomed the tasking and claimed he had already had some good proposals.”
The information comes as the White House battles strong public criticism over the continuing US mission in Iraq, four years after invading the country to oust Saddam Hussein.
Zarqawi was killed on June 7, 2006 in an US air raid on Baquba, north of Baghdad.

By that, they are correct in recognizing that a major terror attack on or above the level of 911 would damage American confidence and impact the economy, which staggered after 911. However, they mis interpreted the country's resilence and capabilities. Katrina was a mess because the State leadership screwed up - not Nat'l Guard being overstretched, etc. I think they also under estimate the backlash against the moslem community if NBCR weapons are used. The FL component worries me as the 911 terrorists were IIRC operating out of FL prior to the attack. The selection of NY and LA are common sense, though I'm suprised DC is not higher on their list than 2nd tier.

Farida Goolam Ahmed eventually was charged with a simple illegal entry offense and quietly deported, but key documents remain sealed. A Dec. 9, 2004, U.S. Border and Transportation Security intelligence summary, accidentally released on the Internet, states that Ahmed was “linked to specific terrorist activities.”
Government officials familiar with the case now confirm Ahmed was a smuggler based in Johannesburg, South Africa, who specialized in moving special-interest immigrants into the United States along a United Arab Emirates-London-Mexico City-McAllen pipeline.
Houston-based federal prosecutor Abe Martinez, chief of the Southern District of Texas national security section in the U.S. attorney’s office, was asked if Ahmed or anyone she smuggled might have been involved in terrorism.
“Were they linked to any terrorism organizations?” Martinez said. “I would have to say yes.”
Martinez and a number of Texas-based FBI officials declined to elaborate. But an August 2004 report that appeared in the Washington-based Homeland Security Today quoted several unnamed government counterterrorism officials as saying Ahmed also was found to be ferrying “instructions” from a Mexico al-Qaida cell to another cell in New York.
The article reported Ahmed’s arrest led the CIA to capture two al-Qaida members in Mexico and several Pakistani al-Qaida members in Pakistan and in Britain who all were part of the plot to attack targets in New York. (snip)

Jihadis Post Scenario for the Defeat of the United States

On May 14, jihadi forum users Abu Kandahar and Roslan al-Shami posted a five-point scenario for the collapse of the United States and the rise of the Islamic ummah, entitled, “The Next Strikes in the Heart of America, When and How.” It appeared on the al-ommh.net forum, although at least one other jihadi forum, alhanein.com, reposted the scenario. The posting outlines a scenario for attacking the United States, although the sheer size of the operation suggests that it is jihadi propaganda and not an actual plan that could be operationalized. The alleged operation is dedicated to Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the head of the Islamic State of Iraq.
The first stage in the scenario involves multiple terrorist attacks on three major U.S. cities, preferably with nuclear weapons, using an unspecified number of trucks. The scenario places priority on attacking New York City because it is the central artery of the U.S. economy and it would prove that the mujahideen are capable of recurrent attacks on the same target. The second city to attack is Los Angeles, an important West Coast “atheist” city. The third “city” to be attacked is Florida because, they argue, it is an East Coast congregation city and has the Kennedy Space Center (considering the description, the statement’s authors probably meant Orlando). While those are the three primary cities for attack, the writers of the document suggest that if the mujahideen wish to expedite the collapse of the United States, they should also conduct attacks in Seattle since it is a strategic border city; Washington, DC, the political center of the United States; and cities in Texas, since the “biggest oil companies” are located there.
According to the writers, the purpose of attacking these specific cities is to cause a sharp decline in the U.S. economy; mass amounts of casualties; the support for the mujahideen by anti-U.S. countries such as Cuba and Venezuela; a decrease in American support for their own government; the withdrawal of the “blasphemous” U.S. military from Islamic territories; mass military desertions; and the inability to fuel U.S. military fighter jets. The document also outlines how the fallout from such large-scale attacks would cause the U.S. military to return to the United States in order to conduct massive relief operations. They refer to the example of how Hurricane Katrina overburdened the U.S. National Guard, calling the hurricane a “Soldier of God.”
After such attacks, they argue that the Islamic State of Iraq will seize the opportunity to launch mass strikes on the apostates in the Iraqi military and police, paving the way for the third stage of the scenario: the commencement of the golden era of the triumphant Islamic conquests that includes the implementation of Sharia, the liberation of the Arabian Peninsula, the removal from power of “the U.S. ruling family” in Jordan and, finally, the big march toward Palestine. In the end, even Washington DC will fall to the mujahideen and that will conclude the final stage of Islamic control of the globe.
The scenario appears less of a planned operation than a hope for the fulfillment of a prophecy. The supposed factuality of the scenario is based on various verses in the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings. Nevertheless, some of the users on the forums who discussed the scenario asserted that all of the details to execute the operation had already been prepared. One such user, by the alias of Abu Nedal, said, “For your knowledge, the operations are ready and awaiting the orders from our leader Osama bin Laden, God protect him, to decide what he deems appropriate either to strike now or to wait.”
Islamist extremists have always fabricated factitious scenarios for victory over the West based on their own interpretations of Quranic prophecies in times of crisis and defeat. Nevertheless, al-Qaeda has shown prior interest in acquiring nuclear materials for use in an attack, and it is necessary to take such forum postings seriously as they display the mindset and the intent, although perhaps not the capability, of al-Qaeda-affiliated militants.

“The Islamic State of Iraq...March Toward Washington” reads the headline in English superimposed over a digitally created scene of the U.S. Capitol under attack in the introductory sequence of one tape released on the Internet this week.
Another from al Qaeda’s “as Sahab” production arm announces “Holocaust of the Americans in the Land of Khorasan” and shows an image of the U.S. Capitol to introduce a short clip of al Qaeda fighters.

OAKLAND — Some car thieves go for Jaguars or Porsches. Others prefer something a bit more exotic — like an ambulance. But the motive for making off with an ambulance from the parking lot of Summit Hospital about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday was a mystery.
The full-size vans are gas guzzlers, stick out like a sore thumb and, in the case of the stolen rig, the Global Positioning System may have been broken. The ambulance was recovered at 6:15 p.m. on the 3000 block of Filbert Street, unoccupied and undamaged, said police Sgt. Gary Foppiano. Police are not sure if anything was stolen. AMR, the ambulance company, will do an inventory of the contents of the ambulance. Ambulances stock high-tech equipment and some medications, as well as controlled substances, such as morphine.
This is the second rig to be taken. Over the weekend someone tried to take an ambulance at the McAfee Coliseum but abandoned it in the coliseum parking lot. While the ambulance was not taken, the thieves did get away with the keys, which can be used on any AMR ambulance. Police said the medics were dropping off a patient at Summit and left the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked. Police called the FBI and Department of Homeland Security because it was the second rig stolen in a few days' time, which raised concerns that it could be related to a national security threat.

Iranian arrested outside US embassy (Pakistan)

ISLAMABAD: The Diplomatic Protection Department (DPD) on Tuesday arrested an Iranian in front of the US Embassy in the high-security Diplomatic Enclave.
DPD officials arrested Amir Abbasi, an Iranian national, who came to the embassy through a shuttle service run for the Diplomatic Enclave. The shuttle service administrators gave him a token to ride the bus without checking his documents and the purpose of his visit has not yet been determined.
Munir Jafery, a sub inspector at the Secretariat Police Station is questioning Abbasi. He told Daily Times that security officials manning the US Embassy had arrested Abbasi when he told them that he was an Iranian. He said the DPD sealed the area shortly after the arrest. Jafery said Abbasi was from Isfahan in Iran and entered Quetta illegally 15 days ago before moving to Islamabad. He said Abbasi had told the investigators that he was jobless in Iran and his father and two brothers all veterinary doctors had disowned him. Abbasi confessed to entering Pakistan illegally, he said, adding the police had also seized his Iranian passport and registered a case against him.

Pakistani forces attack ‘terrorist’ training camp

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan - Pakistani security forces launched an operation Tuesday to flush out a ‘terrorist’ training camp in a lawless tribal region bordering Afghanistan, the military said.
Troops stormed the camp at Zargarkhel village in troubled North Waziristan district after militants refused to meet a peace delegation flown in by helicopter and opened fire on security forces, a military statement said. ‘The security forces returned fire and are in the process of clearing the miscreants’ training facility,’ the statement said.
Philippines military hunts terrorist sleeper cell

The Philippine military has stepped up intelligence operations to find 30 members of a terrorist sleeper cell in Manila, which reportedly has plans to bomb a shopping mall in the capital.
Reporter Shirley Escalante says that military information chief, Bartolome Bacarro, has linked the terrorists hiding in Manila to Jemaah Islamiyah leaders Dulmatin and Umar Patek. The JI leaders who masterminded the 2002 Bali bombings are the subject of a manhunt by thousands of security forces in Sulu province in the south.
The 30 members of the sleeper cell in the capital were reportedly trained in bomb-making by JI in the south. Eight members of the sleeper cell surrendered to the military early this month, and expressed their desire to become law-abiding citizens. They revealed plans to conduct bombings in the capital, and told authorities they would try to convince the 30 other members of their sleeper cell to surrender.
US forces have killed two gunmen and discovered a large amount of Iranian currency and bomb-making materials in a raid on the Baghdad Shiite neighbourhood of Sadr City on Wednesday. US troops searched 11 buildings during the raid in search of a cell involved in importing weapons from Iran into Baghdad and southeastern Iraq. "As they continued to search the buildings, coalition forces found a large quantity of Iranian money, more than 6,000 dollars in US money and improvised explosive device-making materials," said the statement.
During the search US forces came under attack from four gunmen and confirmed killing two of them. Washington has repeatedly accused Iran of funding armed groups in Iraq and trying to distabilise the country, a charge it has denied. On May 28, the US and Iranian ambassadors to Iraq will meet to discuss their respective policies in the war torn country.

Al-Qaida still considers Los Angeles top target

Los Angeles remains a top target of Al-Qaida which sees the city as vulnerable to attack as before 9/11, it was reported on Tuesday. Terrorist groups may get funding from street gangs which are draining resources from law enforcement agencies working to head off future attacks, the Daily News quoted security experts as saying. "We are not safe and we will not be safe for many years," Los Angeles police Deputy Chief Mark Leap said. "There are many, many more people who consider themselves jihadists now. And criminal enterprises are being used to support terrorist activities."
Links between organized crime and terrorism are particularly troubling in light of a message posted on an al-Qaida Web site saying the group wants to kill 4 million Americans in retribution for the killing of Moslems. "Al-Qaida recently announced on their Web site that they have two main targets -- Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia," said Michael Intriligator, a terrorism expert at the University of California in Los Angeles. "I don't know why they picked Melbourne, but Los Angeles was specifically mentioned as a target for their next terrorist attack," said Intriligator.
He expressed concern over the possibility of an attack with a black-market nuclear device, according to the Daily News. "I think we are not at all prepared for this and we are living in what psychologists call a state of denial," he said. "It's such a horrendous thing to think about. We think it happened way back in 2001 and that it can't happen again."

“Cannes to screen Litvinenko film”

Rebellion: The Litvinenko Case will be screened on Saturday after being added to the festival at the last minute.
Mr Litvinenko, a former Russian security agent and critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died in London last year after being poisoned.
The film, directed by his friend Andrei Nekrasov, follows the 43-year-old until his last days in hospital.
It contains interviews with former KGB agents and is highly critical of the Russian authorities, according to the distributors.
On his death-bed, Mr Litvinenko accused President Putin of being involved in his death.
His friends, including London-based tycoon Boris Berezovsky, have also accused the Kremlin of ordering his assassination, but the Russian government has rejected such claims.
Mr Nekrasov, co-director Olga Konskaya and Litvinenko’s widow Marina are expected in Cannes for the screening, film trade paper Variety said.”

The detention of Kian Tajbakhsh comes amid a crackdown on NGOs at a time when Iranian authorities accuse the United States of using critics and dissidents to overthrow the country’s hard-line government.
Tajbakhsh, an urban planning consultant who has also worked for the World Bank, was detained on or about May 11, the Open Society Institute — a private foundation that encourages democracy-building — said in a statement.”
