When I go to the NRA firing range in Fairfax, there are always plenty of LEOs and federal agents practicing there. Several of the NRA CCH (and other) instructors are active police officers.
It seems improbable to me that any tyrant could find enough LEOs and/or military personnel to execute such an egregiously unconstitutional program. And it seems preposterous that it would work in towns and cities with large military populations.
Your idea sounds a whole lot better to me. Shaking my head again...
The interesting thing about the liberals’ Utopian Dream is that they would be required to force it on the sane people at the point of a gun. How ironic.
Are you going to forcibly and thoroughly search every single one? If you don’t, the last guy with a gun is going to be the ruler. Why not take guns away from cops too?

I don’t think he’s read John Lott’s book “More Guns, Less Crime” about how guns are used defensively every day to STOP crime to prevent killings, rape, assaults, robbery, etc.

They'd find a few. A few years back some kids were shooting their dads pellet rifle in their back yard when one came through my window and nailed me just above the liver.
I called the cops, that's another story in itself, but when the boys in blue finally actually entered my house the Sgt in charge looked at my gun safe and said "I'd take everyone of these right now if I could."
I told him that's just what he'd have to do because I sure as hell wouldn't just give them to him.
The beat guys were alright about it. Once I calmed down a couple of them told me they thought he was an asshole, too.
He retired from the force soon after that and became a divorce lawyer. Go figure.
But I have a feeling the ones who would be all gung ho would see their ranks depleted pretty quickly. Line cops would lose their enthusiasm after that.

One of the most memorable events from NOLA was the video of a 75-yeat old grandma getting into a physical struggle with the SWAT team trying to seize her little revolver. That was the beginning and the end of the NOLA seizure program.
My thoughts exactly. My ‘liberal’ neighbors have knocked on my door when they thought they saw a bear in their backyard (we live next to the Dismal Swamp in SE Virginia). Turned out to be a large possum, but just illustrates that guns can be your friends esp. when you’re scared. Lock and load.

He just doesn't view it the same way we do - as the the evil Nazis crushing the resistance of the heroic jews. In his viewpoint, the Nazis were the good guys. They were the lawful government, and the jews were criminals resisting lawful authority. The only losses this guy would regret in his modern day gun owner as jew scenario would be losses to their beloved police.
And I think that there would be considerable losses. Gun owners would just cower in their homes waiting for the door to get kicked down. I think all sorts of ambushes and ieds would start cropping up. And the score settling that he mentions in his piece of filth editorial? I think there are people in his area who would settle his. So the jerk better pray that his nazi dream of America doesn't come true, and he can continue to vent his fear and hatred of freedom from his nice comfortable position.

Safegarding Society from Liberals
In the follow up to a major Al-Qaida strike where millions of Americans die, it becomes painfully clear that the internal enemies who have aided and abettet the terrorists via actions such as the unilateral surrender they have engineered in Iraq, are as guilty as the illegal immigrant terrorist cells that committed the American Attrocity, as it came to be known.
Large segments of the population become extremely motivated to clean society of the overwhelming danger posed by liberals.
Now, how would one politically cleanse the American population of Socialists and Liberals? First of all, federal or state laws would need to make it a crime punishable by a $1,000 fine and one year in prison to contrribute to banned organizations, including the Democratic Party. Publications such as the NY Times, Newsweek and the Washington Post would be required to immediately cease daily publication, and leftist networks such as MSNBC and PBS would be taken off the air.
The population would then be given three months to turn in (or surrender in the case of compliant individuals)identified leftists. This would include political, social and leftist-cause leaders, and all prosteletizing homosexuals and other deviants.
It would certainly include nearly all Democratic politicians, and leading media figures.
Special panels of known and reliable conservatives drawn from organizations like local churches, the American Legion, and Operation Rescue would be formed to complete the local lists needed to implement the internment, as was done in WW2 with the Japanese.
Leftists would be able to deposit their leaders in a centrally located internment centers, heavily guarded, similar to those used to hold suspected Japanese in World War 2. The leaders and leftists would be able to visit family on special occassions in the case where the entire clan was not implicated in formenting Socialism in America.
The liberals would be required to be redeposited at the end of the allotted vistitation on pain of arrest.
When relatives submit a request for their leftist relations, federal, state, and local checks would be made to establish that they had not been convicted of a violent crime since the last time they withdrew their liberal relatives.
In the process, camp staff would take at least a quick look at each visitor to try to affirm that he was not obviously an undiscovered liberal.
It would have to be the case that the term "liberal leaning" did not include people who's primary support of liberalism was merely through volunteer efforts at organizations such as the Red Cross. Little effort would be made to spare union organizers, greenpeace style ecologists, persons supporting open borders, and first ammendmnet fetishists, however, from the charge of criminal liberal sedition and internment.
All antique or interesting socialist and liberal media collections, including the works of Marx, Mao and Clinton, would be required to be delivered to a local or regional museum, also to be under strict 24-hour-a-day guard. There they would be on display, if the owner desired, as part of an interesting exhibit of antique American propaganda, as family heirlooms from proud wars past or as part of collections.
Rare book dealers could continue their work, selling unique publications. They would be required to maintain very tight inventories. Any liberal publication sold would be delivered immediately by the dealer to the nearest limited circulation library or the museum, not to the buyer.

The "free speech lobby" would no doubt try to head off in the courts the new laws and the actions to implement them. They might succeed in doing so, although the new approach would undoubtedly prompt new, vigorous debate on the subject. In any case, some jurisdictions would undoubtedly take the opportunity of the chronic slowness of the courts to begin implementing the new approach.
America's long land and sea borders present another kind of problem. It is easy to imagine continued attempts to smuggle leftists in from Mexico, along with banned types such as illegal aliens, and perhaps in more remote parts of the Canadian border area, to funnel socialists into the United States.
That would constitute a problem for American immigration authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard, but not an insurmountable one over time.
There could conceivably also be a rash of resistance when the internments began. Given the general nature of liberals and the fact that they have a known obsessive fear of guns and weapons, that seems a lesser sort of issue.
That is my idea of how it could be done. The desire to do so on the part of the American people is another question altogether, but one clearly raised again by the ongoing terrorist killings effecting our nation.

Leftists hate guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens. They want guns in the hands of criminals.
Why?
They hate private property.
They are obsessed with the fact that some people have more than others.
They want the “underclass” to rise up and take whatever they want. Letting the “underclass” keep their guns while taking them from the White Christians who have worked hard, legally, all their lives to accumulate some money and property, is what liberals want.

I was born and started school in Boston, graduated HS in Haverhill (the town too tough to die) and I'd say a great majority of the guys I grew up with are Dems, either from expediency, actual belief or they simply inherited their parents party, but I'd also say that a solid majority of the ones I've kept in touch with over the years are gun owners.
The author seriously misunderestimates the will of the American Redneck....
