Petraeus Briefs Lawmakers Before Final House Vote on Iraq War Spending Bill (Hunter's Quote in Full)
FOX News ^ | 04/25/2007 | Major Garrett

WASHINGTON — A Wednesday briefing by Army Gen. David Petraeus did not appear to quell concerns of House Democrats who are set to pass a veto-ready supplemental war spending bill that includes a timeline for withdrawal.

But the top commander in Iraq did warn lawmakers that their volatile rhetoric is being heard by the enemy.

"One thing that he reminded us was, this is a test of wills and he admonished us, reminded us that what we say to the world, to our adversaries and our allies, is listened to by the other side," said Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif.

Hunter said Petraeus "didn't try to sugarcoat the issues and the problems" that American forces face in Iraq, but noted that comments like that by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who last week said the war is lost, provide incentive for U.S. adversaries.

"It must come as a shock to Al Qaeda leaders to have an aide come into their safe house and tell them that Senator Reid has declared that, in fact, they are winning and the war is lost," Hunter said. "I think it's highly irresponsible for the leader of the U.S. Senate to have said that and, just speaking for myself as the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee, I think that the leader of the Senate should step down from that position."

Wednesday's briefing by the head of Multinational Forces in Iraq was intended to provide new insights about the long-term viability of the security plan, but appeared only to harden partisan positions on the war.

Well actually McCain and Rudy G did Duncan Hunter one better because nationally their statements of how the Dems were surrender monkeys played better. No one heard the Hunter quote and that was too bad. Any Pub actually standing up for the truth and right policies would be refreshing since the spineless GOP never defends itself, the Prez or any of our platform stances. At least in the war against Islamofascism and in Iraq, all 3 did today.

As usual. Hunter gets it right. God Bless Gen. Petraeus and his men. Oh, and our CIC.

It doesn't help the CNN relegated Hunter's words to a mere blog.

But that’s only true on a good day. Usually, they’re much worse.

Send Hunter an attaboy. He is pretty lonely having to fight the traitors mostly by himself.

We have to keep pushing the radio talkers to get him back on, again and again.

They will not make an excuse if we are attacked again. They will simply say that Bush was wasting resources and time in Iraq, leaving our country open to terrorists.

And the recent death of 9 marines is not "blood on their hands," it is "see, we are right about the lost war."

It is cynical beyond measure and seems to be playing pretty well over all the US for the moment.

Drew Pearson was a real SOB and did everything he could to hurt Gen. Patton after the war was over.

How? Patton was dead. Died in a jeep accident.

We need to get video of this statement and put it on YouTube. If more Republicans could see and hear him making these statements, they would have more impact.

Ok. Now they all have been better briefed. Time for more high end Republicans and any democrats with any patriotic guts to come forth and carry the tourch.
One problem that will continue however, is the fact that the demorats have big plans of taking over the presidential position in Janurary 2009.
And there is no way they want any war bills hanging over their heads. They want everything to look clean and quite as usual, so they can go back to pissing all our bucks away on social programs. It is a never ending battle that swings back and forth. And you can bet next weeks beer, that they have no plans on expanding our military if they take over completely. It will be an uphill battle for eight years to get anything done regarding the military. Then as the broken record comes around, the so called American concience will swing again, and a repub will get in. Meanwhile however, this time around, the Russians will rebuild what they lost, the Chinese will continue getting stronger and the Islamofacist will regroup in ever better equiped organizational structures.
That being said. Time to hop in the rubbity tub, and get ready for work work work. Got to be dragging my carcass into the building at 5AM. Do have a great day.

Ried’s statements together with Nancy-no-show, the Democrats need to return to the backseat on all national security efforts. In such a short time in the leadership role, they have proven that they are NOT for the sovereignty of this country. They view this as Bush’s war and hence have no problem directing our defeat. Then they will blame Bush for losing the war. They see all things in the short-term and have no idea what a defeat in Iraq will really bring.

GO HUNTER!

McCain was asked point blank today on Fox and Friends what he thought about Hunter calling on Reid to resign. McCain ran away from that question FAST!

McCain has been decent lately, but I’ve heard no harsh condemnations from him. He’s a senator, and should be leading the charge to dispose of dingy Harry.

The American people are mind-numbed robots sucking up Liberal-biased MSM garbage on an hourly basis fostered by DC Liberals. Reminds me of Nazi Germany when no one believed that evil was growing right under their noses. Then, one day, they were being loaded onto boxcars for a trip to their deaths. The American people, despite 9/11, don’t want to believe that evil is brewing and it’s headed our way again.
