Seems like the southern states were stronger about their views than the north. North seemed kind of wishy washy.

Looks like not much has changed since 1860. Confedracy was demanding States Rights, and according to this poll map, looks like the same players, with a few exceptions. To the Blue states, my response is; Yankee Go Home! This is a South Carolina issue, and they dont need any of your Sassy, fat-mouth, busybody, Yankee talk, tellin em what to do.Kinda like the slavery issue that started the whole thing, isn't it? The Southern states insisted on their States Rights and didn't want the federal government telling them they couldn't continue with slavery.
You're right about one thing - some things have not changed much since 1860.

Its time to let go of the past. The future is whats important. Not at the expense of learning nothing from our history.
And just what is it we are supposed to "learn" from looking at the Confederate flag?
This sounds like the blacks who want to keep bringing up slavery so we will "learn" from it.
Does not everyone already know there was slavery in the US? Does not everyone know there was a War fought between the North and the South?
Why do we have to eternally "learn" about it over and over again?

Stop me if you heard this one before.
Actually, because it would be the federal government dictating to SC what it can or cannot do, it would be a war of aggression.

Not at the expense of learning nothing from our history. Thanks, AuntB. Those that do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. Do you get it, tkathy?I don't. Just what is it that we are going to repeat?
Slavery?
Another Civil War?

fyi, we southerners care EVEN LESS about what hate-FILLED/ignorant/arrogant/SELF-righteous/sanctimonious DAMNyankees think. In the words of Ronnie Reagan - "There you go again."
You spew your hatred of Northerners and in the same sentence call northerners "hate-filled".
Kettle meet pot.

o deny the right to have a confederate flag in a confederate state is pure stupidity.Talk about stupidity - there are no "Confederate" states. In case you missed it the Confederacy lost the war.
All 50 states are "American" states - not "Confederate" states.
Had the south won the war - THEN you would have Confederate states. But it didn't so there aren't.

Lets not forget TN (south) brought us Al Gore!
But lets not forget that Tennessee didn't vote for him. George Bush carried Tennessee.

Great post. I’m dissapointed that Virginia wasn’t more “red”. I guess we have been infiltrated more than the other southern states.

Last year my company and a Union company both did a joint event last year in honoring a Union grave its about respect. If people want to honor Southerners who fought for Union they have every right to do so as well as Southerners who want to honor there Confederate past if anyone supports taking the confederate flag down from the memorial needs there head checked
To: Salo; All
I agree 100%. This is a matter that concerns the SOVEREIGN STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, and nobody else!

Does “hanging on to the past” count for the rest of the wars we have been in or only the one for southern independence? It ain’t destroying the republican party either. Whacko liberals are doing it without a fight.
