(04/19/07 -- DURHAM) - A week after state Attorney General Roy Cooper dropped all charges in the Duke Lacrosse case about a dozen people are protesting that decision.
Thursday morning they gathered outside the house on North Buchanan Street, where the infamous party took place, calling for justice. They say the Attorney General made the wrong decision.
On March 13, 2006 an exotic dancer accused three Duke Lacrosse players of kidnapping and raping her. All of those charges have been dropped citing insufficient evidence. AG Cooper said in a press conference last week the accuser could not identify the suspects, and changed her story.
Protestors believe the accuser was denied the right to have her case hear in court. "We want to make sure that the victim receives a fair hearing. We want to see justice prevail through a jury trial," one protestor said.
The group went on to say the focus was shifted away from the accuser to the way Mike Nifong handled the case. The group also said money played a big role in the case.

“We want to make sure that the victim receives a fair hearing. We want to see justice prevail through a jury trial,” one protestor said.
How ironic. The whole problem is that the REAL victims, the 3 falsely accused boys, never had a chance at a fair trial. They were tried and convicted in the media by;
1.a district attorney more interested in re-election than justice,
2.a school faculty more interested in P.C. than innocent until proven guilty, and
3.two professional race-hustlers more interested in lining their pockets and photo ops of them looking concerned than the lack of credible evidence.
If these clowns really want to see justice prevail, then the above mentioned members of this modern-day lynch mob should and must be held accountable and at the very least financially liable...
And they vote :-(
I was at that protest meeting!!
Three of the protesters dragged me inside and into the bathroom, beat me about the head with a rubber hose and made me listen to speeches by Malik Shabazz!
Actually there were five of them! Well, actually twenty-five! Well, actually three!
Well, maybe it wasn’t a rubber hose, but a baseball bat! Or not a baseball bat, but a large speckled trout!
Anyway, it went on and on for half an hour! Well, actually, for only five minutes!
When it was over I went to the hospital and was examined by a nurse who distrusts all black people! She confirmed it happened just as I said, and that it was black folks who did this to me!
This exact same thing happened to me 12 years ago and the authorities did absolutely NOTHING!
This time I’m going to the Durham DA and getting justice! And I’m gonna get paid by those black folks!
Maybe X nappy headed hos
LMAO!
Duke and the 88 are guilty of more than slander and libel. They basically created a physically dangerous situation for that entire lax team and in fact as much as invited the “new black panther” organization onto campus and handed them a wanted poster with pictures and names of the entire lax squad on it. Conspiracy to commit mass murder would not be that much of a stretch.
Good for you! We’re behind ya’ all the way, brother. Planning the marches and protests and the letter to the editor right now.
Only the pimps profit from their community ignorance...
The pimps who routinely sell their minds to the drugs and gangs and votes to the DNC as well as the pimps who sell the bodies of their young women.
There are no blacks on the planet with more access to a safe, fulfilling and prosperous life as those in America - nor has any country on the planet done more than America to make that the case..
Yet - blacks in America have done less to take advantage or express appreciation for America’s opportunities that ALL of the world’s ethnic groups risk death to get here.
I don’t see ANY of America’s blacks who make a huge show of of wishing to be considered African-Americans make any attempt to return to Africa.
Maybe it's time for blacks in America to put aside THEIR racism and attempt to become Americans. We're all going to need each other in the life or death struggle ahead.

What I have to say can’t be posted here. It is the truth.
“We want to make sure that the victim receives a fair hearing. We want to see justice prevail through a jury trial,”
Methinks the REAL victims in all this will have a jury trial and end up owning the fair city of Durham and, hopefully, Duke University. Not to fret, justice has and will prevail.
Nifong's jury.
You have to admit though, that putting the accuser on the stand for cross examination would be a hoot!
...Nobody in his right mind would send a kid to any school within...
As I stated on a previous thread:
Is upping the mileage test from 30 to 50 your idea of keeping the dialogue fresh? I hate to mix metaphors, but in this case it is appropriate:
You are beating a dead horse to the choir.
We already know how you feel. Please at least TRY to come up with something new once in a while.
You will hear no disagreement from me. All of those responsible should be beggared financially. They are already paupers in integrity..
I suppose this is irrelevant to anyone who has an agenda that is simply designed to charge someone white with the crime.
I would respectfully submit that the only way the victim in this travesty will get a fair hearing is if she is charged with filing a false police report. In which case, she could successfully argue that she had been manipulated and duped into identifying three young men. The only reason she will not get that trial these women so long for is because the State of North Carolina and the exonerated young men see no point to wasting any more time and money on a pointless endeavor which is a greater exhibition of mercy than she and these women would EVER have granted to the three young men.
“The accused in this case had alibis and would have lost at trial because of a severely tainted investigation where the victim was manipulated into identifying three young men who could not be tied to the crime.”
Should have read: The accused in this case had alibis and THE STATE would have lost at trial because of a severely tainted investigation where the victim was manipulated into identifying three young men who could not be tied to the crime
Funny thing, justice. My late uncle’s long-time girlfriend (who happens to be African-American) is also a lawyer for the Los Angeles City Atty’s office. She pointed out that justice is the process, not the result. Just because you didn’t get the end you wanted doesn’t mean justice wasn’t done.
Yeah! It isn’t the validity of the charges or the guilt of the accused, it is the “seriousness” of the charges!
these are liberal-socialists.
they EMOTE,
but they do not think.
