Alec Baldwin issued an apology on Friday for unleashing a volcanic tirade at his 11-year-old daughter and blamed "certain people" for leaking the rant to US media.
The Oscar-nominated star of "The Departed" branded daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" in a fiery voicemail message that emerged on celebrity websites on Thursday.
It is the latest twist to the bitter legal wrangling between Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger over custody and visitation rights relating to Ireland. The couple split in 2001.
Baldwin's tirade was apparently triggered by Ireland's failure to switch her mobile phone on for a scheduled call with her father.
"Once again I've made an ass out of myself trying to get to a phone at a specific time," Baldwin says in the message. "I'm tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time.

So that makes abusing his daughter okay?
That said I don't understand why this is such big news. Harry Reid just invited the whole Islamo-nazi world to rev up their engines for one big final victory massacre in Iraq. Once the U.S. is out of there they will reorganize for the western assault.
People forget that once you make a baby with someone you are tied to that person for life.
Even after the child is grown there could be a wedding to partake in grandchildren to share etc.
It is so sad that the people who can really afford therapy can also afford to buy the good opinion of the therapist instead of being confronted with their stuff... His money seems to be preventing him from getting over his own abuse. Guys like this don't come from nowhere.
God bless him. Chances are he didn't sit in the Ninth Circuit (California) and wasn't appointed by Bill Clinton, though.
Good one! I was going with "discourage" and "child" and "anger" but didn't hit it.
Yep, a child needs a mother and a father.
And if one of the 2 isn’t around for one reason or another a strong person of the gender needs to be part of a child’s life whether it be a grandparent, an aunt or uncle or even family friend.
LOL!! I think a lot of us had some old dogs in this fight. I enjoyed chatting with you, too. Good night!
The Deceiver is not called the Prince of the Air for nothing....
Sad, isn't it?
I've been surprised how many have been riveted by this story, but it's one where so many of us have experience. Having some feeling of usefulness discussing the Demolunatics, on the other hand, is a bigger and more hopeless quagmire than anything in Iraq.
Yes, not just for life, but souls into eternity. The girl will never have any other parents. They need to shape up.
Good night, all. Thank you for sharing. What a week it has been, with 33 devastated families longing for one more day or moment with their precious children.
He left it on his childs voicemail. And Harvey Levin of TMZ was on Fox news and said that there are several ways of getting a legal copy of the recording, that Bassinger wasn't the only way but he wouldn't say his source.

If this was indeed a case of criminal child abuse, then it would have been reported to the District Attorney, not the Wire Service.
This exposure of this private horror is just voyeurism and violation of all of these people's privacy of the most despicable sort.
Just imagine what it is like to be Baldwin's daughter having these horrid words echoing from every speaker and television across the country? Is this a moral good? I think not. I think the humiliation is crushing.
If you cannot understand that folk have an expectation of privacy even when they are messing up incredibly. As I said, if this crossed the line, family courts and the appropriate authorities could handle this without this incredible public violation. These people have been denied the space and time to learn and improve how they act. Instead this is just more gotcha character assassination.
This is a part of our world, but, this will come back to haunt every person in ways that we have no way of understanding today if folks don't recognize that a line has been crossed.
Yes, Baldwin scarred his daughter with this horrible behavior, but the effect of this being broadcast scarred the both of these people 1000 times more. Just think what it would be like to have your father publicly humiliated because you were irresponsible.
You can push it away, but there it is on every radio station and tv every one of those horrible words repeated again and again and again. Tell me this is right by any stretch of the imagination.
The press used to pass on this, but the world of the National Enquirer has become the standard for all news.
They were in court this Wednesday and Baldwin is forbidden to have contact with his daughter. There will be a hearing on May 4th.
This exposure of this private horror is just voyeurism
Public exposure also lends a certain amount of protection as now everyone sees. It's been known for some time that Baldwin is violent and abusive.
These people have been denied the space and time to learn and improve how they act.
It hasn't happened in 6 years. It's not going to.
But, to equate this conversation as being a public broadcast is bizarre. If releasing this conversation had been a criminal act, then Baldwin could have had it suppressed and could threaten action against the media as well as her mother, but this probably isn't the case.
But, understand, that Big Brother as an oppression is built out yielding respect for people's privacy. The public having access to this recording is just feeding voyeuristic and prurient impulses. If this was a criminal act of abuse, the mother would report this to the police. Anything else, amounts to an abuse that so dwarfs the original message that the release is a far greater crime and abuse of all parties involved.
