Alec Baldwin issued an apology on Friday for unleashing a volcanic tirade at his 11-year-old daughter and blamed "certain people" for leaking the rant to US media.
The Oscar-nominated star of "The Departed" branded daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" in a fiery voicemail message that emerged on celebrity websites on Thursday.
It is the latest twist to the bitter legal wrangling between Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger over custody and visitation rights relating to Ireland. The couple split in 2001.
Baldwin's tirade was apparently triggered by Ireland's failure to switch her mobile phone on for a scheduled call with her father.
"Once again I've made an ass out of myself trying to get to a phone at a specific time," Baldwin says in the message. "I'm tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time.

I hate this liberal jerk. I’m happy that his dark nature is being exposed; he is twisted with hate. I don’t speak to people like this and I’d never be so cruel to an 11 year old. And I’m an asshole.

He will be wondering in 10 years or so why her uncle is walking her down the aisle and is called grandpa by her kids.

Nailed it. And calling the other parent crazy is part of the power trip. The problem is that it all hinges on the point of view of the judge, and what judge is assigned to the case. Judges may vary considerably. Divorce and custody are among the most subjective judgments.
So you think abuse to a certain extent is okay?

Verbally abusive hateful people like Alec Baldwin usually also do physical abuse.
I think hearing this swine talk to his daughter this way the same week that we hear of young people never to be seen by their family again just makes it even sicker.
Also hearing the lunatic murderer speak in hateful rages just makes us pause and say, No, that is not o.k. to talk to a child like that.
My uncle was a family court judge. Visitation wouldn’t be stopped if it was just this one phone call.
I guess I missed the part about abusing my kids being okay.

The parent using their child is Alec. He clearly does not love her. If he did he never would call her a pig or consider it making a butt out of himself to get to a phone.

You need to watch the show "Dirt" for one or two episodes. It's about the tabloid news industry, and the lengths tabloids go to to get dirt on celebrities and publish it. A lot of money changes hands, and no one is safe. Look at how the snooty servants in the court of Queen Elizabeth all told tales about Diana and Charles. It wouldn't have happened without a lot of palms getting greased with filthy lucre. Don't be naive. There could be one very wealthy Basinger housemaid heading back to Mejico tonight.

How disgusting. I have many democrat friends who I share other interests with. We just don’t get into politics.
I have democrat family members. Again we’re family. Yes we get into politics but at the end of the day these people are still my cousin in one case, my uncle in another case etc.
Thank you. You bring this up in a week in which a mass murderer's childhood is now being combed, and all the hundreds of red flags that were missed are now being reviewed ... but no one took responsibility. I hope someone out there with authority over Herr Baldwin is listening.

I know very few screwed up women who didn’t have bad relationships with their dads if there was a dad at all.
That’s why if a woman winds up without a husband or father for her child there needs to be a man in that child’s life. Too many women have the no man needed mantra.
My best friend’s father died when she was little and her mother never remarried. Her mother’s brother was the Dad in her life. Took her to daddy daughter events. Gave her away at her wedding. Is who her kids call grandpa.
So he abuses her because she doesn’t leave her cell phone on?
Scary gets a beating at least an emotional one for forgetting to turn on her cell phone.
She’s better off with no daddy than him as her daddy.
By the same token, your point of view may therefore not be reckoning with the very different life celebrities and their children lead. It is a fishbowl that is not good for children to begin with, requiring huge efforts by the parents to keep the children out of the limelight — in this case, he just blabbed about his daughter on two television shows and Lord only knows who overheard his loud phone rant, which for all you know may have been recorded by a money-grubbing assistant in his own hotel suite as he delivered it.
While you may think the release of the tape is dastardly, a good case can be made that it is the only thing that can end this endless divorce and put Baldwin in his place, as he is quite obviously abusive, out of control, and wealthy enough to keep the abuse and jerking around of the mother and the daughter going on indefinitely.
