I haven’t had time to really follow this. Can someone please explain to me why the firing of the U.S. Attorneys is any different or worse than when Clinton did it?

Is this guy retarded? At least this shows that just because a lawyer is conservative, that doesn’t automatically make him good lawyer or judge material. I’d rather have a competent centrist than a blundering fool like this guy trying my cases.

Ok.. here is the nitty gritty... AG gave a "REASON" for firing folks when a "REASON" is not required... NOW he is forced to defend that "REASON" which never should have been given in the first place... an UNRECOVERABLE mistake IMHO

This is horrible to watch. Gonzales is doing an awful job. I guess he can’t handle pressure very well.

The democrats are attempting to make this look like President Bush is firing attorneys who may have goods on him.
The difference with Clinton (to my limited understanding) is that he fired his at the change of his administration, which is the basic custom.
The democrats simply want to give the appearance that a cover-up is underway.
That would make too much sense! What do these congresscritters suppose those subordinates are paid for if not to do their jobs? What do the Senators staff do, if not conduct business as is their job? When was the last time the head of a specific department was to deal with every single issue of the day when their are subordinates to do that, as is their job.
Notify him at meetings yes, but it is not Gonzales’s place to do the staffs jobs for them.do the subordinates job for them.
Gonzales is to blame for this period. Not the President, not the democrats.
Gonzales is easy pickings for the dims. We would do the same thing to an AG as pathetic as Gonzo that the dims put in.

Arlen second guessing the handling of Chou. Should have compelled the two female students to testify. Sure...he probably would have killed them. Smart, Arlen. Very smart.
This whole line of questioning is inappropriate for this hearing and is nothing more than grandstanding.
Sad isn’t it? NOW it will look like, no matter how it happens, that the Dems proved their point. And any and all Republicans in that committee should be ashamed of themselves and should be recalled or thrown out of office, if for no other reason than they have no clue what is in the Constitution they swore to uphold!
