FROM THE SENATE
Dismissal of U.S. Attorneys
Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales testifies before a Judiciary Cmte. hearing on the recent firing of eight U.S. Attorneys. Critics have questioned the motivation for the firing and the Atty. Gen.'s role in the process. The original hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, was post-
poned because of the Virginia Tech University shootings.

If they wanted it on c-span 1, Pelosi should have simply not scheduled other house activity today. When the house is in session, c-span 1 covers it, that’s the charter. When the senate is in session while the house is in session, c-span 2 covers it, unless it’s clear they are spending all day doing quorum calls and there’s an exciting hearing somewhere.

I’m mad at my cable company. A few months ago they raised our rates 2 bucks because they had to pick up liberal lawyer Peter Angelos’s sports network in order to show Nationals games. That even though half the time his cable is showing “classic” orioles games, or a simulcast of ESPN-news which we have on a digital channel. But his “MASM” channel gets one of the non-digital lines where my normal TV works.

Well NOW they have picked up his SECOND channel (MASM-2) which has even LESS useful crap, which has bumped my CSPAN-2 up to the “digitial” range which means I won’t get it without paying for digital (which I’m about to drop).

Worse, their digital is getting overloaded with all the people they are signing up for “fast internet”, so I wasn’t able to stand watching the V-Tech convocation replay because every 20 seconds the digital had to re-sync.

And just to add insult to injury, at the same time I couldn’t watch c-span 2 because of where they had bumped it, BOTH MASM-1 and MASM-2 were doing a simulcast of the ESPN-NEWS channel.

Yep, 2 bucks extra for baseball teams I don’t want to see, showing my the same stuff I’m alreading ignoring on another channel.

We need per-channel choices. I don’t care if I pay the same, just so my money doesn’t end up in the pocket of Peter Angelos.

Apparently, they blindsided Atty Bogden. Thinks they should have had a face to face.

How would the Clintons have had a face to face with all 93 of the attys they fired.

Isn’t it the job of the educational system to educate the citizenry about the Constitution??

Not if you want to be an effective president when faced with a congress that puts your defeat ahead of the country. Bush has the "bully pulpit" and he should use it.

I read where the WH did a dry run of his testimony with the AG and he didn’t do well.

Newsweek ^ | 4/16/07 | Michael Isikoff
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has virtually wiped his public schedule clean to bone up for his long-awaited April 17 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee—a session widely seen as a crucial test as to whether he will survive the U.S. attorney mess. But even his own closest advisers are nervous about whether he is up to the task. At a recent "prep" for a prospective Sunday talk-show interview, Gonzales's performance was so poor that top aides scrapped any live appearances. During the March 23 session in the A.G.'s conference room, Gonzales was grilled by a team of top aides and...

I have been listening...and I keep wanting to tell Gonzo to stop talking.

He gets in trouble when he says more than he is asked about...like that remark about how he always prepares for hearings..and Specter jumped on him with 2 feet for misspeaking at a press conference...

Specter shouldn’t have jumped on him...but Gonzo handed him that one...ugh
